Drew & Nala
I enjoyed Drew and Nala’s story. It was an intriguing and engaging read. And am voluntarily leaving this review.
Maclean Mafia Men, 9
Nala had escaped from a prison of pain and was doing her best to hide in plain sight. Every day was a struggle for her, and she didn’t know how much longer she could go on. When she had the chance, she ran.
Drew saw through her disguise right away, and it piqued his interest. Why would a pretty woman make herself look as unappealing as possible? Nothing was going to prevent him from finding out.
Once he captured her, he found his answers, and they were much worse than what he expected. It made him furious and determined to get Nala the justice she deserved, and only then would he think about their future.
Be Warned: anal sex
Excerpt:
“Come here,” Drew said with his hand out as he sat down on the side of the bed.
He held her hands to pull her between his legs. “There is nothing to be afraid of, Sweetheart.”
She set her hands on his shoulders. “I’m afraid I’ll disappoint you?”
He smiled and shook his head. “That’s not possible.”
She tried hard to keep looking into his eyes, but his body fascinated her, and her fingertips tingled with the need to stroke him.
“Babe, if you want to touch me, you can at any time. I’ve dreamed about your hands on me.”
Her eyes widened. “Really?”
He grinned. “Yeah.”
Nala let one hand slide over his shoulder and down his arm. His skin was hot to the touch, and he was so hard all over and was twice the size of her. He made her feel feminine and delicate.
“I need to taste you,” he said before pulling her head down and taking her lips. His lips and tongue followed the contour of her mouth. He nibbled, licked, and sucked until her lips were red and swollen. He tugged on the towel and let it drop to the ground. “Damn, you are beautiful.”
Her first instinct was to cover herself, but one look from him had her lower her arms to her side.
Drew picked her up by her hips, twisted her around, and laid her on the mattress before reclining beside her. He used one hand to touch everywhere he could reach but avoided the areas she needed his touch the most. He continued to kiss her until she was whimpering and trying to pull him down onto her.
“Drew…”
“I know, Sweetheart.” Drew moved down her body until he could reach her breasts. He spent a long time on them, which made her need even more frantic.
The breath caught in her throat when she felt his fingers separate her pussy lips. A startled scream tore from her when he flicked her clit. She had no idea it was that sensitive.
“Let’s see how tight you are.”
She felt him at the opening of her cunt and then pressure as he moved into her.
“God, you’re fucking tight enough that I can’t move my finger inside of you. I can’t wait until my cock is there. You’re going to strangle me.”
I looked up at him in confusion. The words sounded bad, but his tone of voice was excited. “Is that good?”
“Fuck, yeah. It’s going to hurt so good.”
He pulled out and then pushed back in, but it was even tighter than before.
“You’re taking two of my fingers. We’ll get you stretched out a bit before I fuck you.”
Nala nodded. The grip on his shoulder and the blanket under them tightened.
“When was the last time you had sex?” he asked.
“It was when I was seventeen, and it was the only time I did it.”
“Are you serious? Why?”
“I didn’t like it, and then I…”
“You what?”
“I was staying at a house for a couple of years.”
“I want to know all about that,” he said.
She wanted to shake her head and yell no, but she knew he’d get it out of her eventually.
“I’m going to start working three fingers in.”
Nala twisted her hips to help the pressure he was causing, hoping it would ease if she moved. It didn’t.
“Drew. I’m not sure—”
He pressed his lips to hers. “I am. Let me make you feel good. Relax for me, Sweetheart.”
She nodded and tried her best. She was startled when he moved down her body and pushed her legs apart to make room for him.
“Wait,” she said and tried to pull him up.
“No. Babe, you’re going to like this.”
A shock of pleasure ripped through her at the first swipe of his tongue over her sensitive, swollen clit. A scream tore from her throat, making him chuckle.
“See,” he said.
He went back down on her, using his fingers, tongue, and even his teeth to bring her to a level of need she’d never thought was possible. She jerked when he moved up and in between her legs with the head of his cock at her entrance. Her brain was so muddled she had no idea when he took off his pants and put a condom on.
He curled one of his hands behind her head, and the other one gripped her hip to keep her steady. “Now, be a good girl and relax for me. The last thing I want to do is hurt you.”
She nodded. That’s the last thing she wanted, too. She’d had enough of that with Clayton to last a lifetime.
He started to press into her.
“Oh, God…” she said.
“Easy. I can get in you. It’ll just take time,” Drew said.
It seemed to take hours for him to be as deep as he could be finally. He waited and kissed her a few times, murmured softly to her, giving her time to adjust to his invasion.
“How are you doing?” he asked.
She moved her hips and was surprised when she didn’t feel any discomfort. “I think I’m okay.”
“Good. If at any time you feel pain, tell me.”
She nodded.
He started slow and easy. She felt something in her gut tightening. It didn’t stop. It just got tighter.
“Drew.” Her nails started to sink into his skin, and her legs lifted. “Something’s happening.”
“I know, Babe. I can feel it. I want you to let go and come.”
“What? No…”
“Yes.”
His pace sped up until he was ramming into her, and she begged for more. The tension grew more excruciating until she felt something release in her, making her feel like she was flying at the same time like her body had been hit with lightning. The sound of their combined moan and cry bounced against the walls and magnified. When the pressure finally ebbed, she lay under him, gasping for breath.
“Jesus. I’ve never felt like that before,” he said against her ear as he rested his head on her shoulder.
“It was good?”
He lifted his head and grinned. “No. It was great.”
Nala couldn’t help but smile. She was so relieved she’d made him happy.
I enjoyed Drew and Nala’s story. It was an intriguing and engaging read. And am voluntarily leaving this review.
This was a great story. I couldn't put the book down. Nala (Scarlet) is running from her old life and it was a horrible life. She finally escaped and is working in one of the Maclean family clubs. She's beaten and scared and trying to blend in and not stand out. Drew Maclean is checking out the club and spots her right away. He can tell that something is not right. It might be a short story but it has danger, action, suspense, protection, healing, safety, passion, and love. The story also melts out karma to the monster that Nala escaped from.
This is the 9th book in this impressive series, and this is Drew and Nala’s journey. Nala was brought up in the foster system, and when she aged out, was sent to a group home, and from there she was sold a man who kept her in a prison of pain, from where she manages to escape. Drew sees through Nala’s façade and is determined to find out what is haunting her. Can Nala trust Drew and his family? This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster, with justice, humor, realistic characters, family, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, twisted, unpredictable, haunting, and steamy addictive page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Mafia's Vendetta is a short and steamy, age-gap, mafia dark romance. Nala is a young woman raised in the foster system who is then trafficked and abused repeatedly. She finally escapes and gets a job as a waitress. Drew is part of the Maclean Mafia. He has been sent to check on the restaurant Nala is now working at due to some descepancies in funds. He sees Nala and knows she is trying to hide. He is taken with her. Can he protect her? Will she trust him and let him in? This story has a lot of dark topics, so be sure to read the triggers. The chemistry was hot between the characters, and we do get a happy ending, but there is a good deal of emotional drama first. I have read other books by Lila, but this is the first one in this series. Now I need to read the others!.
I have so enjoyed the "Maclean Mafia Men" series. The Maclean men fall fast and love hard, including the cousins. This one can be enjoyed as a stand alone but of course has connected characters. It however does not detract or leave you wondering what is going on. This story is about Drew, a Maclean cousin, and Scarlet/Nala, a sweet young lady in disguise and hiding. Drew is checking out one of the family's clubs because of missing money when he meets Scarlet. He is intrigued and can tell everything is not as it seems. Something is up! She has run from a very bad man who has done some horrible things to her and others. This story definitely has some triggers that are glossed over. The story is a fairly short read that is fast paced with some danger, action, suspense and a very protective family. There is also some very steamy action. I really have enjoyed the series but I will say I had a hard time reading this one because of what Clayton has done and what Nala has endured. It does leave the theft open with no answer. Drew takes it slow with Nala. Karma and justice were served in the end.
I like this series, and this book didn't disappoint, it was sweet and have enough action to understand the mafia family. I felt Nala's story and I was glad that it ended with her in Drew's life.
Every time this author brings out a new book in this series I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Just like all the others this one pulls you right into the thick of it and makes you feel all different emotions. I didn't want to put it down but I also couldn't wait to race to the end and finish it!
This latest installment of MacLean Mafia Men was well written and kept me coming back for more thanks to the endearing characters. I can't wait to see what Lila Fox has in store for us next.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. When Drew sees a waitress at his families bar and sees that she is trying to hide who she really is... This piques his interest. He has to find out why she is hiding. It also helps that he know Scarlett isn't her real name and he wants to know everything about her.
A wonderful mafia story. We follow Drew and Scarlet. He meets Scarlet when he is out doing business with the MacLean fortresses where he meets her. From the first moment he wants to know everything about her and not only that but also her secrets and he wants her to be his. Can he keep Nala or Scarlet safe and protected? There is so much tension and action but also plenty of steam and heat.
Nala is on the run from the man who held her captive and abused her. Working in a bar owned by the Macleans brings her into contact with Drew who is intrigued by her. He knows she is lying to him and wants to know her secrets. This quickly turns into wanting her and when her "owner" comes looking for her he is ready to take care of it. Drew's branch of the family is still reeling from finding out that their mother was a serial killer but each brother is slowly finding their forever woman. For a mafia family, there are just some things they won't tolerate and they work to bring them down.
I really enjoyed this dark romance, it was full of suspense and action which kept me on the edge of my seat. I just couldn't put this book down.
Nala and Drew are wonderful characters and they have a strong chemistry. I enjoyed reading their story
This series. Just, wow. I have loved it immensely. This book is about Drew and Nala aka Scarlet. She has had it terribly rough for so long. She was in a terrible situation and finally escaped it. She gets a job at a club, owned by Drew's family. That's where he sees her for the first time. I loved him. He was awesome with her. Swoon and drool worthy. I loved their whole story. Seriously, read this series!
Nala grew up in foster care and when she aged out of the system she went to a group home. From there she was sold to a man who kept her prisoner until she escaped, not before he abused her for months. Now she is in a new town trying to stay under the radar. Drew knew when he saw her at his family's club, she was hiding something. He needs to find out what is going on with her, she becomes his new obsession. Nala has people looking for her, will Drew be able to keep her safe? Can she trust him and his family? This may be triggering for some due to past abuse and violence.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review. In this book we meet Nala "Scarlet" Jones & Drew Harrison-Maclean. Nala is on the run from her previous life. When she sees Drew in the club she just knows to stay safe she has to stay away from him. Drew takes one look at Scarlet and knows she is lying to him. There is something about her that has him wanting to know more about her. Can they find a HEA or will there always be something between them? Another amazing hit by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I really enjoyed reading this quick read. Lila is grade A amazing. And I love all her offerings. Just a really good book. This installment is so engrossing. Couldn’t put it down.
This was a quick read but it packed a lot in and I enjoyed it. When the waitress in a local bar shuns any attempts at flirtation and shows no signs of attraction to Drew his interest is piqued, when he takes a closer look at her he sees she is hiding something and is drawn to her wanting to protect her from whatever it is she's running from. The Maclean men are so protective and that's showed throughout the book and I loved the extra mile he was willing to go to for even if it did seem a bit OTT at the start before Nala reciprocated his feelings. It covered some hard topics in the book which include trafficking, abuse and SA while not overly explicit in detail there is some mention which people may find upsetting so be warned.
I've read a lot of books written by Lila Fox; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the nineth book in the Maclean Mafia Men Series; it is a stand-alone short story. The story is about Nala & Drew; she’s hiding out by disguising herself; he sees through her disguise and catches her only to find out why she’s hiding. Now he’s determined to get justice for her. I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
Enjoying this author have read a couple of her books now. Nala just wanted to get on with the job she always felt people could see through her disguise before long she knew she would probably have to run again before Clayton found her no way was she going back to being his dog but the man staring at her in the club made her nervous she gave him attitude until one night he grabbed her making her fight him and be taken was just the start turns out there are saviours who have the need for revenge when it comes to wanting to protect
Nala grew up in foster care. When she aged out of the system, the manager of the halfway house she lived in sold her to be the pet of a rich guy. He starved her, whipped her and kept her locked up for years. Finally she was able to escape and she was helped by a couple of people. One man who managed a bar gave her a job and a place to stay. Nala is doing her best to hide in plain sight but she has caught the eye of one of the Maclean mafia men. Her secrets drive Drew to find out everything he can about "Scarlet" the name Nala gives him. He is determined to keep her safe and make her his.
When she didn’t respond to his advances he knew he needed to find out why. Such an interesting read and steamy, fun, exciting with lots of thrilling chapters I recieved a free copy via Booksprout and I’m giving my review freely and honestly
The pain she has gone through and the man who sees through the walls she built and the things he does to help her heal.
Nala has escaped her life and is in hiding, Drew won’t stop till he finds out what or who she’s hiding from. Page turning story from the start.
A gritty story of a girl hiding from ex owner being spotted by Drew, a Mafia don, who rescues her from her predicament and takes her to live with him where they slowly develop a relationship. It takes Drew time to gain her trust and a develop a relationship. Learning of her past traumas ignites his anger and he is urged to seek revenge for her. This is quite a deep story, with a few triggers that readers need to be aware of. Nala's life of physical and emotional abuse has been traumatic and she deserves to find happiness with Drew.
Drew wanted Nala from the moment he saw her, and all she wanted was to remain unseen and unknown. Beaten and scarred, Nala was hiding from her abuser, but with Drew pulling her back into the light; there was a very good chance she would be found again. A very unlikely hero just may have rode in on his black horse to rescue Nala; how will it all end? This story is very exciting and will keep you reading instead of getting work done with a well earned ending that will make you smile!
This is book nine in the Maclean Mafia Men series, this is the first book from this series that I have read and it was easily read on its own. Scarlet (Nala) is waitresses while on the run / hiding and Drew, the owner of the establishment is intrigued by her - he instantly attracted to her, wants to know everything about her and take care of her, and circumstances speed their interactions up. Nala was damaged and didn't trust Drew (or anybody) and takes longer to be convinced about Drew, and danger is just around the corner. This was a fast paced, enjoyable Mafia read with a younger, damaged heroine and an older, tough Mafia man, turned protector.
Part of the Maclean Mafia Men series each can be read alone with a dangerous sexy and the one who captures his attention so make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) ?. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Nala all you want to do is give her a hug telling her it will all work out she has been past from foster home to foster home ageing out sent to a halfway house where the manager lines his packets the way he sees fit instead of helping kids find a job and a place to stay. Nala was drugged, sold in the middle of the night to a powerful businessman Clayton Warner into trafficking calls what he does cleaning up the streets or the problem of the foster system but he didn’t sexually assault her he was into boys so he worked with the foster to kidnap very young little boys assault then let them go in hopes they never forget him the girls well she is the third girl he has bought from the halfway house he starves them, beats them for fun, laughs, makes them sleep in a dog bed but because he has money that makes it okay she has tried to escape several times but each time he would find her tie her, beat her in hopes of breaking the very spirit but it only gave her the strength to plan ahead of time how/where to run so gaining his trust she know was the answer. After gaining his trust one day he is gone too long giving her the chance to run. Nala took a bus got as a waitress working in Italian Sin Club where the manager offered her the apartment above the restaurant in comes Drew sexy as all get out owner of the Italian Sin Club after noticing shortages and discrepancy there for answers but notice the beautiful waitress who wears too big clothes tries her best to stay hidden from the world but he knows if he notices her act so can others and he decides to do a deep dive on her while figuring out the books by tailing her, his cousin (who isn’t a good guy), bugging her apartment but does he get to her before Clayton, will she learn to trust him enough to tell him the truth, will Clayton get what he deserves, will she ever get the life she deserves, and can she finally have trust, happiness, love?
Drew is out at one of the family's clubs and notices a waitress trying very hard to disguise herself and make herself unattractive. She also does not flirt with him or seem to find him appealing. This is unusual for Drew and he is intrigued to learn more about her. Nala is in hiding after running away from the person who kept her as a prisoner for the past three years. Drew ends up taking Nala home to help keep her safe and gradually draws her out of her shell and learns exactly how bad the past few years have been for Nala. He swears vengeance on the man responsible for her capture and torture. This has some very dark themes and you will want to pay attention to the trigger warnings. Overall it was a very good book and the creep gets his due in the end.
Was Drew her hero?? I’ve got to say I was hooked to this book and really just couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what was behind Nala. What was making her run? Drew will do anything for the people he cares about, and when he notices the girl at the club who was trying to hide her identity, her figure and her looks he knew there was a story behind it, so he got his man to make sure she was safe and to check her out. But when someone tries to break into her flat, he is quick to run into The Fray to make sure that she is safe. But can she trust him?? You will not be able to put this book down. It is just exciting and addictive, and I really like it the difference that we see in Nala when she knows that she is safe and with someone who will protect her, it’s obviously these two have chemistry. I’ve Gotta be honest and say this series is just exciting. It makes you want to know these mafia men and their family. Who would do anything to protect their own. Can’t wait for the next book .
A woman on the run scared and hoping to stay under every one notice. But one mafia boss sees to much and figured out she is running from something and needs help. There is something about her that draws him to protect her and help her even if he doesn't know her story. Great book. Hard to put down.l without finishing
This is a new author to me Really enjoyed this Great characters and story Always look out for this author.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. OMG! Wow, I love these Maclean Mafia Men. I was absolutely enthralled reading this book about Drew and Nala. Drew is Mafia his cousin runs the family, Drew went to one of the family owned clubs, he was there for a job when he noticed her a new staff member she held his curiosity so he followed her, and had his men follow her and cameras in her apartment. Nala was finishing her shift at work done all the precautions and then walked home. Nala was walking past an alley way when someone grabbed her from behind a hand over the mouth and told not to make a noise. The chemistry between them was slow and gentle until she liked it then it became explosive.
Drew Maclean and three of his men were checking on one of the family owned clubs. A new waitress came to wait on them and Drew noticed that she was trying to disguise herself. Nala (Scarlet) had a very hard life and had escaped from a man named Clayton Warner. The man had treated her cruelly and Nala always had to hide and stay one step ahead and on the move. Newman was the manager of the club and Nala had told him her story. He gave her a job and a small one room apartment in which to live. Drew knew she was giving him a fake name and was keeping secrets. Drew had someone to keep an eye on Nala to maybe find out about her. When two men tried to get in Nala's apartment they were taken by Drew's men and then Nala was taken to Drew's home . Drew has feelings for Nala and wants to keep her safe. He could see that she had been mistreated and was under weight. He wanted to gain Nala's trust and help her. She later told Drew her real name and what she had been through. How do you think he reacted ? Wonder what will happen next ? This is a very touching book. I really enjoyed reading it and I was glued to the pages. Now I want to read all of the Maclean books.
This was a very intense book. The characters were vibrant and interesting and the premise was unique. I was sucked in quickly and devoured this book.
Nala's story had me all caught up in it from the first page. She was sold off once she left foster care and her nightmare began. Clayton was a despicable individual with sadistically dark needs. His abuse caused great harm not only to Nala but others as well. When she ran away, she finally got a chance to see life from a different standpoint. Drew knew something was off and took it upon himself to find out and when he did, I was happy of his treatment to Clayton. Now that he has taken care of him will he and Nala finally get their chance for happiness.
Drew and Nala's story. Your heart will pour out for Nala and what she had to go through. She was able to save herself, and then her heart was rescued by love.
Wow I sure hope more cousins come out of this series just can’t get enough of the Mclean me, whew they are so alpha and protective of their women I loved this story and oh those men they make sure they punish those who hurt their family I can’t wait for her Christmas book on this family.
The Mafia Vendetta by Lila Fox is Book 9 in the Maclean Mafia Men series. This mafia romance is a steamy quick read involving the Maclean family. This story focuses on Nala and Drew. Nala has been terrorized for years by a brutal man and has finally escaped and is in hiding. Drew sees Nala working at his club and notices her attempt to look ugly. He is immediately intrigued and wants to know everything about her. I received a free copy of this book via Evernight and am voluntarily leaving a review. This mafia romance has the MMC falls first, and he falls hard. There is plenty of steam and action as Drew is on the hunt for the man who hurt Nala. Be aware that when Drew’s justice is served it is intense and other forms of karma are implied that may be upsetting to some readers. Please be aware of your triggers. I enjoyed this story. It was a satisfying read and I am planning on reading more in this series.
This was a very well written story with a really dark background. I couldn’t connect with the story as well as I would have hoped, but I have to many shared experiences as the innocents in this story. I am absolutely positive that people will enjoy reading this book.
Drew and Nala’s story is heartbreaking, poignant, and powerful! The emotional connection between them is palpable and as she learns to trust him it’s profound. Lila Fox has a sense of human nature that brings out her couples’ energy, their passion, and their love. Drew is another strong man who finds his woman in a difficult situation. Willow is resilient: she had to be after suffering horrific emotional and physical abuse. I love when these protective mafia men make evil psychopaths pay for their crimes! Willow finds a whole new world when Drew becomes her protector: security, food, and a place to explore her passion. He’s patient, dominant, and ready to make her his permanently! I love this series!
Wow this book has a lot of darkness at the end and triggers throughout, so reader beware. Other than the triggers I really enjoyed the slow burn and HEA buildup. The Maclean brothers claim another girl for their family. With a very steamy and romantic HEA of course!!
This is Book 9 of The Maclean Mafia Men. It is a stand-alone. I absolutely fell in love with this novella!! Drew saw Scarlett waitress ing in one of the bar his family owns. He could tell immediately she was hiding from something and not what she made herself out to be. After putting her under surveillance, one night he sees someone in her apartment. He takes her to keep her safe. Nala is scared but has no choice to trust him. What happens in Drew and Nala's story when Nala's nightmare before comes back for her? Trust you'll be very satisfied by this ending in so many ways. Great job on this novella by Lila Fox. Fantastic quick read with a great storyline.
This story has a romantic hero and a lady on the run. I love this series and how the women take care of each other and the men who protect them.
I enjoyed this tale. The life that Nala led before meeting Drew is terrifying, and I'm so glad we don't get all of the gory details. When Drew gets the chance to deliver karma, it's a little overboard, but also gratifying. Short tale, fast read, HEA.
The Mafia's Vendetta is Drew and Nala's steamy quick read. Drew is determined, possessive and quick to act when he sees Nala. He knows right away he wants her but Nala brings trouble with her. Now she has to decide whether to tell Drew about her past or keep on running.
loved this novel! This is new author for me and I really enjoyed this novel. Wow, this novel pulled me into this story in the first chapter and would not let go until the last page. I loved Mafia romance novels and this novel did not disappoint. Lala broke my heart with everything she had been thru. I loved Lala and Drew together. Their chemistry was so good. I love when I can't bear to put a novel down because I have to know what is coming next. This novel checked my boxes. I loved it! I can't wait to see what is coming next from this author.
I had such a fun time reading this book. I love this series and have been loving how this author writes. ? It is face paced and kept me enraptured the entire way. Looking forward to more.
Another Maclean man finds his love, but she is in trouble, and he needs to protect her. Just enough angst to move the story along while the attraction is high, and the heat is sizzling. There is violence - both in the past and in the present.
Enjoyable Mafia Novella No woman had ever said no to him and the moment he set his eyes on Nala he just knew something about her was wrong. When she didn’t show any interest in him, Drew just knew he had to find out more about her and protect her! Nala was running from her past, before she knew it, Drew has moved her into his place and told her he wanted her, could she tell him about her past and could she risk trusting him? An emotional sultry read with a hot mafia man and the woman he was meant to claim his HEA with!
Drew is drawn to Nala at first sight and knows shebwill be his only she has a past she's running from, and pushes him away only no women's said no to him and Drew won't give up. Well written steamy desires action and more!
