Ever since his mother left the ranch when he was younger without even saying goodbye, Rafe McGraw hasn’t been able to get close to a woman fearing that she’d become bored from the very thing that he loved most above all else – life on the family ranch. Jenna Davidson isn’t afraid of a little hard work and is ready to prove she can handle anything that Rafe dishes out when it comes to them working together. However, when they become involved in a gyrocopter accident, it seems they must put aside their differences and actually work together if they are to stay alive. From the start this book was interesting, especially since Rafe had no reason to be so hostile towards Jenna. She was only on the ranch to do a job and do it to the best of her ability. The plot and dialogue was well-written and I liked that Jenna stood up to Rafe. Honestly, Rafe needed someone to challenge him the way Jenna does. To make him see that those he loved didn’t always leave unless he pushed them too far and they felt like they had no choice. The sex scenes were hot and just perfect where they were in the story, especially since they came after the two were involved in the gyrocopter accident. It seemed cheating death made them want to celebrate life, which seemed good for the both of them. What I liked so much about Jenna was that she challenged Rafe and wouldn’t let his chauvinistic ways interfere with her doing her job. While with Rafe, I liked that Jenna finally wore him down and made him realize that not every woman found the need to leave him and the ranch he loved simply because at times they may find life on the family ranch boring. Overall, this author has done an excellent job of crafting this novel consisting of a feisty heroine that isn’t afraid to stand up to the chauvinistic hero and show him just what he might be missing out on if he lets her get away.
