I wake to a pair of deep green eyes staring at me. "Adam?"

 

A grin blooms on his handsome face. "Adam? Is that what you named him? How biblical of you, Violet." He straightens and roars with laughter.

 

On the bed, behind my back, a body stirs to life. I roll over and squeak at the twin of the man I've just woken to. "Adam?"

 

"Yes, my love," says the male lying next to me.

 

"Oh, my God!" I sit bolt upright and cover my breasts with the sheets. Now that the sleep scales have fallen from my eyes and my brain, I understand my situation. "Lyle! How did you get in here?"

 

"Never mind that, you clever girl. What the deuce have you been making?" A few strides of his long legs carry him to the other side of the bed where Adam lies. "Adam? Is that your name?"

 

Adam sits and turns to me. "Who is this man, Violet, my dearest?"

 

Lyle's eyes grow wider. "Good Lord, he sounds exactly like ... me!" He reaches out a hand and pokes Adam in the cheek. "Not nearly as good-looking though."

 

"I am not a lord," Adam tells Lyle gravely, and I can't help but snicker at the shocked expression on Lyle's face. "I belong to Violet. By what name shall I address you?"

 

"You may call me ... Lord Cocksucker," Lyle says mocking my creation.

 

Adam laughs, sounding so like the man he was modeled after. "Lord Cocksucker. That is an interesting name. I like to have my cock sucked. Do you?"

 

Lyle sits on the bed next to Adam. "Oh, yes I do, very much. You're quite a lucky man if Violet sucks your cock. Does she?"

The characters are well-written but a longer story, I think, would have developed them more. Still, they are very interesting and the author does a wonderful job mixing genre’s without skipping a beat. I loved the steampunk elements and the paranormal succubus bits. It was really was creative. The sex, well, let’s go with freaking hot! Succubus Steam by Lila Shaw is a steampunked paranormal gem!

For an erotic novella, it delivered in all areas – humorous dialogue, funny and sexy situations and great characters. I adored this story! After inheriting her uncle’s laboratory as well as his inventor’s spirit, Violet creates a steam-powered dreamboat named Adam. Modeled after the incubus Lyle who haunts her fantasies. Her first and last sexual encounter with Lyle left her dangerously depleted of energy. Since she can’t have him, Adam is the next best thing, with Lyle being the prototype. But when Lyle discovers Violet’s naughty little secret, he may have a solution to keep them all very satisfied. Even though Violet is half human, half succubus, her entire persona seemed more human than wanton predator. I also loved that she was a bit of a nerd. The playful and sarcastic dialogue between her and her full-blooded succubus sisters was very entertaining, as was the sexual tension whenever Lyle showed up. Small hints lead us to believe that Lyle may not be the selfish devil he’s made out to be. If his sexy voice and ridiculously good looks weren’t enough to set Violet’s heart aflutter, then his shared interest for machinery certainly does. And Adam …. he was delicious! I wonder if Violet takes orders. This was a delightful and very sexy novella. Even if you’ve never read Steampunk before, it is easy to follow. Lila Shaw lends a great voice to her characters, and she sucks you into the moment with her detailed descriptions of her little made up world. I would definitely recommend this book.
