“I hope my mother hasn’t been too stressful,” he said, nudging her knee with his own.
“Nah, she’s been enlightening.”
“Uh oh. What does that mean?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” she asked with a smirk.
“Don’t tell me she told you about what happened on my sixteenth birthday.”
“No, she hadn’t, but now that you have, tell me everything.” Leia rested her chin in her palm as she stared at him, waiting.
Brim slinked down to mimic her pose, but his big frame only looked ridiculous. “Not on your life.”
“That embarrassing?”
“That’s for me to know and for you to never find out.”
She narrowed her eyes. “That makes me want to know all the more.”
He smirked. “Good luck.”
They stared at one another, a challenge on each of their faces. Slowly, Leia stood up and while still holding his gaze called out.
“Oh, Marth—”
Quicker than she could finish, Brim jumped up, grabbed her hand, and tugged her away from the bonfire.
“Nope,” he said. “Come on.”
She laughed as he led her away from the revelry,
“Shouldn’t we stay?” Leia asked, pointing back toward the gathering.
“I want to show you something.” He led her further away, toward the line of trees. As they got farther from the fire, darkness gathered around them.
Leia blinked a few times to readjust her sight. Soon, they were all alone. “Should I be nervous?”
“Nah, you’re going to love this.”
Finally, they came to a clearing in the trees, and he pointed up. Leia tilted her head and saw a vast ocean of stars set against the inky black of space.
“Oh, wow,” she breathed, captivated. “It’s beautiful.”
“I thought you’d love it.”

This was a really interesting story. I was fully invested in the premise of this one. What if you could see when someone would die. What would it mean for your relationships. Fantastic chemistry and a great ending made this a winner for me.
This is the first in a new series and this is Leia and Brim’s journey. Leia is gifted with the ability to see that death is coming for a person, which has her avoiding contact with people. Brim is the President of the Death Raiders, and he has gone nomad to try and heal from grief. When Leia meets Brim, she gives him a warning, but he is sceptical about her abilities. This is a well written slow burn action packed story, with suspense, danger, intrigue, twists, survival, betrayal, drama, family, friendships, trust, and love, which leads to a steamy and riveting page turner. I really enjoyed this story. Leia could see a shadow of death on everyone who was about to die. She saves Brim, an MC President and he takes her to make sure she wasn't involved in the assassination attempt. This story was really good and I liked the characters. I hope we get more stories about this MC group!
It was a short fun read and the fact that it intertwined paranormal and motorcycle clubs was something I enjoyed immensely. The characters were great and I loved how Leia started as a shy girl that didn't want to be seen by anyone because of her curse, and Brim from the beginning was as blunt and outgoing as can be. Wish there was another smut chapter but other than that, thoroughly enjoyed it! 5/5 stars for me ◡̈
This book will have you glued from the start. It takes the best of both the paranormal world and the MC world and entrap you with amazing decriptions of everything involved. Leie and Brim are amazing together and the story is so unique. You will not be able to put this book down.
This book is full of steaminess. The suspense is so "keep you on the edge of your seat" it is just a great book and I can't wait for the next in the series! If you like MC books you will LOVE LOVE LOVE this one for sure.
I can't think of a better word to describe how I feel about this book. It was totally unexpected, especially watching each character evolve through the pages. The ending really surprised me. I'm sure I read the excerpt before downloading, but I didn't expect a paranormal role for either of the main characters. It was fun and unique, a fresh melding of paranormal and MC. I loved it.
I went into this novella thinking it’d be more paranormal than it was based on the description. When it said, “… he takes Leia with him back to his world,” I thought it would be a different world, not just the lifestyle of a MC prez. Whoops. I wouldn’t classify it as paranormal by any means, even with Leia’s gift. Leia is an overnight cleaner at a bar. She can see the shadow of death, which has made her life difficult. She’s spent most of her time avoiding people until she’s forced to work the bar floor one night. Brim helps her with a rowdy drunk at the bar before last call. In turn, Leia warns Brim about his shadow and pleads with him not to go outside. While Brim heeds her warning and takes care of the assassin, he remains skeptical of Leia. Leia and Brim have a rocky start, but she supports him wholly. When she learns the reason for his grief, Leia helps him deal with it despite his avoidance and chagrin. Brim also supports Leia with her past when she lets it slip that she can’t afford to care for anyone. This was a slow burn novella, and I enjoyed the build up. The attraction was there from the beginning and intensified as Leia and Brim spent more time together. I enjoyed seeing Leia’s personality shine brighter the longer she was with Brim. She went from hiding behind her bangs and always looking down to being a strong woman. Spice: 3/5
the perfect quick read! this story was unique & intriguing—a.k.a. the perfect combo. i found myself pulled into the story line right off the bat and was unable to put the book down. the only thing is that the story was so good, i wish it were longer! overall, i really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of this author’s work.
While the plot was somewhat predictable at times, overall, a good steamy read. The characters are relatable and there are some thriller elements that keep it flowing. Definitely good option for a quick read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to be able to review this book.
This was a unique and exciting series opener - and I have to fess up that I've read it twice already ;P Leia has a wee gift that allows her to see when death will come to a person... She feels it's a curse until she helps Brim and he manages to not only survive but also lose that sign of death. Brim, being the prez of an MC, is highly suspicious of Leia and kidnaps her. This does not start things off on the right foot, if you can imagine ;) What follows is a mystery, full of action and suspense, as these two grow and learn to trust each other. Love does develop between them, but all is not simple for them. I enjoyed the twists, family, drama and steamy romance that wove around these two interesting characters. I really enjoyed the paranormal aspect to this read and am hopeful we get more books along this line with other fun characters we meet in here :D

Shadowed Touch has elements of paranormal and will keep you glued to the pages! When Leia warned Brim about his pending death if he walked out the front door of the bar and it started their intriguing journey. This story is filled with thrilling suspenseful twists and turns that will have you cheering Brim and Leia on! It is a well written story that is descriptive along with dynamic characters that I connected with!
I loved this book. It packed so much into a short read in the best way. I’m excited to read more about this family and see where other characters find their HEA.
Good read! The writing flows well. It's easy to keep reading until you have finished the book! The paranormal aspect is intriguing. The story seems quick, but somehow, it is not rushed.

First time reading this author and love it. Going to search for more of this type of books and maybe a series. This sorry started as a business contract and evolve to feeling, which is common. Both parties seeking the best for each other. I really like the plot and of course the love.
This is my first book I've read by Beth D. Carter and I must say I'm glad I was made aware of her because the Death Riders MC series is great. Brim and Leia were great. Leia has a gift or a curse is how you look at it and can see the shadows of death. And when she sees the vision of Brim about his imminent death, she goes looking for him to warn him. Their story is danger, suspense, drama, action and plenty of hot moments. I'm already looking forward to the next part of this great series and I think it's a good start.
I really, really enjoyed the story. The story moves fast with lots of twists, terms and action as they search for whose trying to kill Brim. The sex is really hot and there are a lot of fun parts of the story not laugh out loud fun but amusing and Light. I really enjoyed this story
Brim, president of the Death Riders MC, has been nomad for the past few months, trying to deal with grief over losing his son. When he helps out the girl in the bar, Lena she warns him that there is a gunman ready to take him out. He finds his would be assassin is on of his own men, does the betrayal go deeper? Who else could be involved? He grabs Lena, not sure if she is involved at first. Later she agrees to help him find out who is after him. The longer the two spend together the closer they get.
This is a very well crafted MC story, with the interesting twist provided by Leia's gift. I loved the characters, the authenticity of the development of their relationship, and the slow burn that makes the story enjoyable. Although some things were too simple for my liking in the end...

Leia and Brim’s story has him riding nomad for a few months with his grief. He stops at a bar she works at with a guy being obnoxious. He helps her get rid of him and in turn she warns him how he will die and how to prevent it. He doesn’t believe her but takes the precautions and finds the assassin and finds out it’s on of his men. He takes her back with him to his MC, he’s the prez. These two grow and have strong feelings for each other. It is sweet to see her come out of her shell and find her strength with him
I have to say this series seems like it is not only going to be interesting but oh sooo good withthe paranormal aspect. Leia (Star Wars spelling..lol..you have to read it to get it) and Brim were perfect. Brim with his toughnes and Leia with her quick wit. Brin became nomad for a very good reason and was just enthralled with Leia because she seems so out of place in that bar. Once they connected, nothing, and I do mean nothing could tear them apart. This is not like most MC stories. This one had the paranormal aspect that made me more interested in the arc of the story. I hope Ms. Carter, the author, brings others into the mix or wake up powers of some in the MC.
Love reading MC romances. I love anything to do with the paranormal and I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series.

This was a super interesting story. Leia happens to see death on people's shoulder. Brim happens to come into the bar where she is working and saves her from someone getting handsy with her. Leia sees the shadow of death on his shoulder and ends up doing something she's never done, she warns him of his upcoming death. This was such a great story and I loved Leia and her gift. I loved both characters in this story. They are both entertaining and their chemistry is outstanding. I'd love to read more of these stories with some paranormal in it. Highly recommend.
What a fantastic read. If you love a short read that is erotic, paranormal, mentions bikers with a bit of suspense then Leia & Brimstone's story is one I highly recommend reading.
When Brim saw the beauty that looked like a deer in the headlights he sat back and watched her.Something about her drew him in and he knew he was twice her age or at least several years older.He wished she was his to protect but he knew he didn't deserve her.Leah has a gift that's why she left and moved to the small-town she was living in.She didn't like to be around people because she had the sight and could see death around someone.She was used to people saying she's crazy .So she comes in and cleans the bar after it closes but helps by cleaning the dishes and stuff while the bar is open so the only people she sees are the cook,her boss and sometimes the bartender and waitresses.There are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted til the very last page.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
This was a great start to a new series. The character work and story line were well written and kept me reading in one sitting. I can't wait to see where this series takes us.

I loved these characters, the world building makes me want to read more of this MC series and the dark themed storyline kept me from going to sleep! I really enjoyed this book. I like how it takes aspects of a mc romance and the supernatural. Leia being able to see when people will die helps a lot during a turf war and I like how Brim is skeptical but believes her after he is about to die.
Leia is running from something sinister. She lives her life unable to form attachments due to her special gift. You see, her gift is that she sees the shadow of death resting on people’s shoulders… And if that wasn’t bad enough, she has the ability to touch the fog and see the details of said death before it happens. So when Brim, the president of the Death Riders Motorcycle Club shows up at the bar she’s working at with the shadow of death over his shoulder, she does something she’s never done before, she touches the shadow and warns him of his upcoming death. Brim has been riding Nomad for the past couple months after a tragedy struck his life. He never imagined the worst tragedy of his life could very well lead him to his greatest blessing. But meeting Leia in the bar that night was the blessing he never thought he’d come across. When he sees someone getting handsy with her at the bar she’s working at, he does what any red blooded man would do, he interferes. Little does he know, he just saved his own life by saving hers. And that’s where I’m going to end this portion of my review, due to spoilers in the context. My Thoughts: In all honesty, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I requested an ARC of Shadow Touched on Netgalley… All I knew was the blurb caught my attention and this book sounded like something unlike anything I ever read in the MC world. Beth D. Carter happens to also be a new-to-me author. Bottom line, I’m addicted! I loved the paranormal aspect to Leia and Brim’s story. There has only been one other MC romance novel where there was a paranormal aspect included, that I’ve read. And I remember thinking to myself, I need more novels like this one! Thank you Beth D. Carter for bringing my obsession for Motorcycle Club romances to the next level!! Now let’s discuss these characters starting with Brim first. So Brim was an anomaly to me. This man was a bit on the older side of the age scale, he lands at forty-five years old. I’ve never really been one for reading books with older characters in them. The few I have read, the characters didn’t really act the age they were supposed to be representing. Don’t get me wrong, there were also romances I loved with older characters… but it seems the few books that I didn’t like really soured me on the older character trope. HOWEVER, Brim really did a number on my heart. I loved the fact that this man acted his age and I loved the rugged older man theme in this novel!! But in all honesty, I wouldn’t classify 45 as being ancient. One thing I loved about Brim was his dedication and devotion towards his family and those he truly loves. He’d do everything to protect them, even when he’s drowning in his own grief. So bottom line, I loved this man and everything he stood for! He’s definitely a character I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. And now onto my favorite Character of Shadow Touched!! Leia!! I loved everything about Leia from her special gift to her fierce protection! I also loved the fact that throughout this novel, Leia’s character takes on a slight mysterious vibe. As a reader, I wanted to dive into her head and uncover all of her secrets. She’s definitely the one that had me second guessing the way this novel was going to end. I could sit here and read three more books based strictly on this woman and her ability to save people with her gift. It’s been a while since I last felt this much intrigue from a character. I loved watching her evolve into someone with a purpose in life. She was sent to protect Brim from death, and there is no doubt about it, she accomplished that mission….. And then some! I loved this book. However, there is a reasoning behind why I had to drop a star rating. I gave Shadow Touched a 4 star rating because, and this may sound a tad bit selfish, but I needed more! I wanted more Brim and Leia one on one time. I wanted to see these two grow and evolve with each other more. I wanted to witness more passion and more love! I felt like there were moments that felt rushed and a bit too fast paced. I could have settled for a slowdown filled with more heart and more heat. If you’re looking for an MC novel that is a bit outside the normal trope, I highly recommend you pick up this novel and give it a try! I really did love this novel and everything that is Leia and Brim! I can’t wait to see what Beth D. Carter has up her sleeve with this series!
I enjoyed this new series by Beth Carter. It wasn't as steamy as I'd anticipated, but there was a lot of focus on developing the relationship between Leia and Brim. I loved the mix of the paranormal with the MC romance. Leia started off hesitant, hiding her abilities but as Brim and his friends accepted her she came out of her shell and stood up for herself. I thought it was an interesting take on Brim to have him dealing with some pretty significant trauma as well and it doesn't get pushed aside. Leia helps him deal with it in a healthy manner and the development of their relationship made it more believable that he would open up to her. Overall, a really enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!
Leia sees the shadow of death and she usually hides away from people because of it. Brim finds a beautiful woman whom he ends up rescuing from a guy at the bar she works in. Leia then warns Brim who of course doesn’t really believe her but checks it out anyway. I wish we had seen a little more at the end honestly I felt like it was ended too quickly.
Leia, can see when someone is marked for death, its how she saves Brim the prez of the mc from his fate. These two are polar opposites a silent grumpy H, and vibrant h. Steamy fast paced and more!
I absolutely loved this book because of the supernatural side of it. It really stands out amongst the usual MC romance and HEA tales that are published endlessly.
The book was more than good. It contained one of my favorite tropes, enemies-to-lovers which already made it amazing. I usually choose to avoid age differences in books but the way the two main characters where presented, made it feel right and beautiful. Having a gift like that was definitely hard for Leia but finding Brim gave her a little hope. I would have definitely loved to see more of their life in the book but the mystery of it makes the book ten times better.
This tale was an interesting balance of clever snark, angst, fragile facades, edgy humor, toxic drama, and the every ratcheting sense of impending doom. The characters were uniquely obnoxious yet oddly endearing, I couldn’t help but care about them – even when they were annoying me. The storylines were gritty and tense and kept me intrigued yet on edge.
Leia has been touched by death and sees when one is marked to die. Needless to say this does not lead to having normal relationships. When she saves the life of Brim, a MC president she sets her life on a new course. Gullible Brim is not, but when a beautiful woman says she sees his death he finds himself listening and getting a new lease on life. This book has your typical MC action, as Brim and Leia race to find the enemy, quite a bit of steaminess, with a touch of the paranormal, I mean Leia sees death, that keeps you wanting more. Those familiar with this author will be happy to catch up with some familiar faces, but Brim and Leia themselves are intriguing. He’s the gruff, silent MC prez and she’s the funny and sweet angel that seems to melt Brim’s alphaness. I am hoping that there’s more to come and soon. Leia is something of a recluse and avoids people as she can see the shadow of death on those about to die. She works behind the scenes and is forced to work behind the bar one evening as they are short staffed. She is very uncomfortable with working behind the bar and a drunk grabs hold of her and won't let go. Brim comes to her rescue, so she warns him of the assassin waiting for him outside. He doesn't really believe her but takes precautions, learning she was telling the truth he dispatches him. He abducts her thinking she is in league with those wanting him dead. I loved how this book unfolded as her gift became accepted and the suspense built.
Leia sees when death comes calling. When Brim does her a gallant favour she returns it by warning him of his impending death. When a trusted mc brother ties to kill him Brim decides to kidnap the messenger and make her help him find who was behind the attempt. A psychic and biker romance mystery with an older male and protective younger woman. Quick, quirky read.
I have previously read some of Beth D. Carter’s my books and this new series is Lu led to the first book of the Forgotten Rebels MC series. Mix and Piper make an appearance. There are people and events mentioned that I don’t recall from her other books but it feels like there should be a White Death MC series. After being alone for so long, Leia runs into Brim and saves his life. The more he is around her, the less he wants to let her go.
I really enjoyed the different aspect of the paranormal in this book. It is something I’ve actually never read about before. I enjoy MC books to begin with and adding in the paranormal aspect just made it all the better. Some people may not like the age difference in the mfc and the mmc. It doesn’t bother me but if is not your thing then this book isn’t for you. They had great chemistry together and you could feel the love by the end of the book. I can’t wait for the next in the series!

A merger of MC & supernatural. Brim is a decent biker with a past hurt. Leia is hiding from the world & more. When their paths cross, you can't help but admire the strength & mind of Leia. Brim's world is full of surprise & love. I enjoyed it & will read the next book.
This book was a lite foray into the gritty world of MCs. If you have interest in burly man on bikes, but not so much the descriptive violence, this one may be for you! I loved the paranormal element to this novella and found it very interesting to see when her talent would present itself. The writing was great and the pace was quick, which is always a plus for me! Lastly, their chemistry was good, but I wish it hadn’t been labeled as erotic when it didn’t really fit that genre.
