Villains, 1

Seven years ago, Vanessa Norma was taken and held for ransom. When something went wrong, she nearly died. Although someone saved her, she now has to live with the permanent scar and being known as damaged goods.

Diago is a monster. He is the villain in most stories. He kills without mercy.

The night he saved Vanessa, something happened, something changed. She was the first person to seek comfort in him, and now, he knows she is at risk of being sold to the highest bidder, as her father needs money.

No one will fight him. Everyone is afraid of him. So he takes Vanessa for his own.

Weds her. Beds her. Makes her all his.

But her family is going to die. He intends to kill her father for the sins he’s committed. He doesn’t care if Vanessa wants him to or not.

Excerpt:

Vanessa would never forgive them, but she was no fool. She knew what people in their world did to others. Once people were inside the mafia, there was no way out unless it was six feet under.

“Diago, a pleasure as always,” her father said, finally approaching the man who’d crashed their party.

The man himself took a second sip of whiskey and shook his head. “Tastes like piss,” he said.

His voice was so guttural, rough, and Vanessa quickly took a sip of her water to hide her smile. No man had ever insulted her father on his taste of fine wines and liquors. He considered himself a connoisseur on such matters. Her father would always buy the most expensive barrel or case he could find. She’d often heard people complain about the taste of such fine … alcohol. It was all crap.

Again, as his only daughter, she couldn’t express such opinions. Her father never wanted to hear anything from her.

Just this past week, he had taken her to a plastic surgeon’s office. He was hoping to remove the scar that had become part of who she was. He wanted her to go under the knife because he couldn’t marry her off.

She’s also been told that once the scar was gone, he intended to put her on a strict regimen to lose weight. She’d heard him complain about her fat ass. Sometimes, the walls were a bit thin, and she was able to hear entire conversations.

Vanessa watched as her father tried to compose himself at the insult that had just been thrown his way. She’d seen a lot of men and women get punished for such an insult, but not Diago. Her father was afraid of him, she was sure of that.

“I can find something more to your liking,” her father said, clicking his fingers.

She already saw a waiter headed toward him, but Vanessa didn’t see anything else, as Diago, for some odd reason, was looking straight at her. She’d lowered her glass during their interaction, and she couldn’t help but wonder if he’d seen her laughing at her father’s complete submission to this man.

Crap. The last thing she wanted to do was cause trouble. She remained perfectly still.

“Yes, you can offer me something new.” Diago walked straight past her father, and then headed in her direction. The whole party had stopped in their tracks and were now watching the man who was quickly closing the distance between them. She tried not to freak out or make a scene. She knew how much her parents hated scenes.

At first, she thought Diago was going to move straight past her, but that was insane. There was nothing but a wall behind her.

All too soon, he reached out and grabbed her arm. He didn’t tug, nor was his grip painful. Vanessa didn’t fight him. It seemed pointless to fight him. She simply followed him as he moved closer to her father. She still held onto her glass of water, but then they were in front of her father.

“I’m taking her,” Diago said.

“You cannot take my daughter.”

“Oh, but I can, and try to stop me, Norma. Just try it. You knew this was going to happen, and like I said, debts always need to be paid.”

And with that, Diago took her.

No one tried to stop him, and the truth was, with her heart racing, Vanessa didn’t want anyone to stop them.

I absolutely loved Diago and Vanessa’s story. Her father thought of her as damaged goods because after she was taken when she was younger, kidnapped and brutally scarred on her face and left her unwanted till Diago bided his time and waited for the moment he could collect the one woman that he will never let go. He knew she was special she brought a peace to his dark soul and showed him what love was. She found a man that would give her the world always protect and love her.

Diago and Vanessa's Story
Written by Heather93 on 18th Oct 2024

Scarred Wife is the first story in the Villains series by Author Sam Crescent. Author Sam Crescent is an absolutely amazing author who creates not only amazing mafia romance stories, but also paranormal romances that have captivating storylines/plots, amazing characters, and fantastic outcomes for the characters. This author has become one of my many favorite authors who I absolutely love reading. Scarred Wife is a suspenseful and definite page-turner of a mafia romance story that I couldn’t set down until I finished reading the book. The story was quite captivating from beginning to end, the characters were well-developed/written and perfectly executed throughout the book. Scarred Wife follows the journey about Diago and Vanessa. Diago is a typical alpha mafia male who will take the daughter of a man, who owes a massive amount of money, as payment. Vanessa was a nervous and shy when she was first brought to Diago’s home by him. Eventually Vanessa begins to develop feelings for Diago and before long she’s fallen in love with him. Scarred Wife was an absolute pleasure to read, getting to know both Diago and Vanessa as the main characters of the book. Scarred Wife is the first mafia romance story that I have read by Author Sam Crescent. Scarred Wife is most certainly a book that I would give as a recommendation for anyone who loves reading mafia romance stories and enjoys reading books by Sam Crescent. I’m definitely going to be reading more different types of romance stories by Author Sam Crescent in the near future.

Great Story
Written by kdavis on 18th Oct 2024

This was a beautiful story of Vanessa and Diego. Vanessa had been kidnapped and a knife to her face had scarred her. Diego happened to be the one to save her from her kidnappers. He takes her for his own and it was the most amazing story I've read in a long time. He might be a monster but they had a fantastic relationship with each other. I highly recommend this book.

Vanessa and Diago
Written by MellaM on 18th Oct 2024

Vanessa (FMC) is little more than a pawn to her mafia family. A less valuable one given that she was scarred during a "take for ransom" attempt. Diago (MMC) is a fellow mobster who saved her that night and who has watched over her ever since. Vanessa doesn't know that Diago was her savior or the extent of his feelings. Naturally, she's suspicious of his motives while he's bought in from the start. She also doesn't know who put the ransom attempt in motion and the revelation was shocking. I loved their path to a solid relationship and how protective Diago was of Vanessa even when he didn't think she'd approve of his tactics. I was rooting for Vanessa. While she was aware of her place in the world she wasn't meek and beaten by the circumstances. So happy they got their HEA and that Vanessa's family got what they deserved. Can't wait to see more from this series.

I loved reading Vanessa and Diago’s story in Scarred by Sam Crescent. Diago is a strong , no nonsense man who doesn’t take anything from anyone. Vanessa is a sweet, shy women who believes no one could ever lover her because of her hideous scars . When she marries Diago she’s not expecting anything to happen between them but she is wrong. There is a chemistry between them that cant be denied.

Vanessa and Diago
Written by SeahawkGirl on 18th Oct 2024

Vanessa is the scarred daughter of the Norma family. Years ago Vanessa was kidnapped and cut by the men who took her. Diago rescued Vanessa all those years ago and kept track of her. Diego takes Vanessa when her father cannot pay a debt to Diago. Vanessa learns a lot of disturbing things about her family while living with Diago. Diago treats her well and she falls in love with him. This was a good story with a few twists and turns that make it more interesting.

A dark romance must read. His a killer for hire and she’s the daughter that no one wants. When he finally enters her life, she doesn’t know that he was the one who saved her. Hidden beauty
Written by Vibekke on 18th Oct 2024

Vanessa, the daughter of a mafiaboss got kidnapped seven years ago. The kidnappers scarred her and she is now damaged gods in the eyes of her family. Diago, saved her that fateful time, not that she remember. And she is the only person who wasn't afraid of him. So when Diago walks into the party and walks away with her nobody dare interfere. Vanessa feels she is more free in his captivity than she ever felt at her parents home. He makes her feel beautiful again. This is the beginning of a romance between two scarred persons. This is one of the best books I have read in mafia romance for a while.

He Makes Her Feel Wanted
Written by Luv2Read17 on 18th Oct 2024

Vanessa's father is in debt to Diago. As payment, Diago takes Vanessa (at least, that's what he announced to everyone at the party when he leaves with her). Diago scares everyone- he's the one people go to when they need someone "taken care of" and he happily does so. Vanessa was scarred seven years ago during a botched kidnapping- which Diago rescued her from. She doesn't recognize him, but he's been keeping an eye on her ever since. This was a quick story. You got to read both POV's and see the relationship progress. I really enjoyed it. I love Sam Crescent's quick little spicy romances and this didn't disappoint. Can't wait to read about future villains in this series.

Edge Of Your Seat....
Written by thischickloves2read! on 18th Oct 2024

I absolutely loved this book --- it reeled me in from the start so much, I didn't want to put it down. The characters are great and the storyline is all Sam (if you know you know). I don't want to spoil this book for anyone, so I won't go into details. You will not be disappointed by Diago and Vanessa’s story. The spice level sure does thaw her! Absolutely loved getting to learn about Diago and his past. I adore Vanessa and how she refuses to let her trauma break her. If you are looking for a good book to read this is the one that I recommend.

Great book
Written by Readstoforget on 18th Oct 2024

Unfortunately for our MFC, a debt needs to be paid. Fortunately for her, the man she now belongs to is not as much of a monster as she had heard. I liked this book a lot, it had me laughing and smiling and at times a little angry. What I thought was really funny is that now that Diago had Vanessa, he didn’t really know what to do with her, often letting her fend for herself and when she did, she binged on carbs. Girl after my own heart.

An enjoyable start to a new Sam Crescent series
Written by EPM on 18th Oct 2024

This was an enjoyable, dark, quick read with steam, secrets and betrayal. Vanessa is a sweet heroine who is looked down upon by others and does not have a future to look forward to. Diago is a ruthless and emotionless killer who only has eyes for her. They have a history that Vanessa is unaware of, you will need to read the story yourself to see how things turn out for them.

Written by BeckyS68 on 18th Oct 2024

This is an excellent book—dark and violent but excellent. Vanessa is the daughter of a man with mafia ties. He is looking to sell her off because he sees her as worthless. Daigo rescued Vanessa seven years ago when she was kidnapped. He is determined nothing will ever hurt her again. Several plot twists keep you hooked to the end. I love Diago and Vanessa. This book has lots of spice and a perfect HEA.

Another good read!
Written by Jes7s7 on 18th Oct 2024

So far, I have loved all the stories I have read by this author and this one is no different. A dark, short read about Diego and Vanessa which I did not want to end. I wasn't expecting it to be so dark but it still made for a good story. No fluff no muss just straight to the point of Diego saving Vanessa not once but to times from her family. The spicy scenes were great without being over the top and Vanessa definitely deserved her happy ending. The sadness for Maureen stayed with Vanessa but Diego got her closure and a dog. Definitely recommend for a short dark read with a happy ever after.

Anti hero
Written by Redfaeryrose on 18th Oct 2024

The male main character (MMC) is quite different; he's the anti-hero, the opposite of everything we typically think of in a hero, except for the fact that he loves his wife and is willing to give her the world. Most importantly, he makes her happy. It's difficult to hate the MMC; he lives by his own code of honor. In the end, he seems like an ordinary guy. What's even more courageous is that the female main character (FMC) loves him, as he has given her more than her family ever did.

A Bit Dark Romantic Page-Turner
Written by A.K. Shaw on 18th Oct 2024

Scarred Wife is the first book in the Villians series. lt is a surprising tale of a monster of a human who happens to be a contradiction in saving the life of the one woman who dares to love him. Vanessa and Diago are opposites, yet they are perfectly suited for one another. Their story is compelling, and you want them to make it to their happily ever after. Scarred Wife is a page-turner with drama, action of the criminal type, romance, and a bit of humor. I look forward to other books in this series.

Perfect for each other.
Written by Juliet18 on 18th Oct 2024

Vanessa and Diago's story was a phenomenal read. Vanessa's family is terrible, especially her father. Diago is a man feared by all but Vanessa. Diago is fiercely protective of Vanessa. Diago from the outside seems cold as ice. And only Vanessa seems to get past the cold and make Diago a caring person. Except for his work, Diago has to be cold and precise. So glad I had the opportunity to read this book.

Vanessa was kidnapped seven years ago, and Diago saved her but didn't let on who he was. I honestly hated her family for how they treated her after the kidnapping. When her father has debts to pay, but can't, Diago tells him he's taking Vanessa as payment. It takes a while, but she warms up to him and then you know they're going to end up falling for each other, but he has to take care of issues that are still popping up from her past. Sam Crescent always writes the bad boys so well and the women are strong, feisty and can hold their own. Another great story!

Gripping and emotional romance
Written by LBing on 18th Oct 2024

This was a gripping and emotional romance for Vanessa and Diago. These two have a history that's complex and surprising. The author did a fab job bringing the feelings of Vanessa being 'damaged goods' and rejected by her family, only to put her back in the path of Diago, who sees her for what and who she is inside. There is good reason to fear him as he makes it his mission to deal harshly with anyone that hurt her... Expect a wild reading ride with lots of action, mystery, danger, shocking twists and hot romance. I really enjoyed this one and can't wait for the next book :D

Alpha man and curvy woman
Written by memes on 18th Oct 2024

This was a quick read for me, I started the story and just read right through in one sitting. The story is typical of this author, there is a curvy girl and good looking, alpha man. I did like the begining when he just walked in and bam he's in charge and no one questions him. There wasn't a whole lot of them getting to know each other in the beginning before things got steamy, but eventually they got "settled in" together. The story ended in a happily ever after, no cliffhanger. There is no cheating in the story, but there is violence and very minimal humor.

Quick read, very emotional, with action, secrets and betrayal, that will keep you intrigued. Reduced to the background and silenced by her own family, Vanessa realizes they aren’t who she thought. The image of a good family she once believed she had started to crumble seven years ago, after her attack. She’s damaged goods that no one wants. Diago has waiting on the sidelines long enough, seven years to be exact. He is the one everyone fears… everyone but Vanessa that is. He wants her, he takes her and anyone who has harmed her will pay a heavy price. He’ll do anything to protect what’s his, and that include Vanessa! Another really good book by Sam Crescent!.

This is the first story in the new "Villians" series but reads as a stand alone. The story is about Diago and Vanessa. Her father is trying to sell her off to pay his outstanding debts. However, she has been left scarred by her kidnappers and now she is considered damaged goods. Diago, ever since he rescued her, has been drawn to her. Now he has stepped in to claim her as payment. There is so much more to their story but I don't want to give it away. I was completely captivated by their story and could not put it down. I love how protective he is with her. He cherishes her for the true prize she is. Her father deserved worse than he got. I cannot wait to read more "Villian" stories.

Vanessa was damaged goods. Well that is what her father thought of her. A scar down her face left her unwanted till Diago. Seven years ago he saved her from her kidnappers. Now he is here to collect the one woman that he will never let go. I do love that Diago saw her as the beauty she is. The scar meant nothing to him. He knew she was special. Vanessa brought a peace to his soul as well as showed him what love was. You learn that he isn’t all bad. He does take care of those that hurt women and children. I was saddened to learn about one person but you knew it was coming. And her father was a piece of work. He deserved his fate. Her family cared nothing for her but for themselves. She found a man that would always protect and love her.

OMG!!! I LVOED THIS ONE!! This was absolutely prefect. I loved our guy from the start even though you could tell he was so cold, lordy when he just dismissed her when they got home, I'm like Dude!! But you could tell he would protect her with his life!! So you knew it was on. Just perfect balance. She was amazing as well. This absolutely is my favorite Sam book so far.

Villains - Book 1 - Scarred Wife - By Sam Crescent Vanessa Norma is a beautiful soul inside an out. At twenty five even though she is still beautiful her Mafia family and those attached to it consider her to be damaged goods after she was taken when she was younger, kidnapped and brutally scarred on her face. Diago is a man feared by all, he is who is sent to do the jobs nobody else will. Seven years ago he was sent to rescue Vanessa Norma when she was only eighteen years old. No one knows but he has watched over her all these years, preparing to make her his own and that is exactly what he is going to do! An exciting new series from Sam Crescent, a well written story with strong characters that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and watching as Vanessa flourished under the loving guidance of Diago. Just beautiful. I can't wait to see who is next as there was no clue from this story at all. Lots to look forward to no doubt. Please note that I was given an arc of this book for my honest review which is exactly what I have given. 5 out of 5 stars.
