Review at THE TBR PILE
First, read the blurb- sounds smoking! I jumped at the chance to read this book, it sounded so hot and badass. Lucy Verr (Great name!) is the Captain of a space ship. Who has a sexy proposition from two slaves she planned to sell. It began very choppy, but that quickly dissolved into strong focused writing. I did notice a bit of an editing issue but that would not be the authors fault at all, so I tend to mention it hear but not count it for the rating. (Such as bathing room in the beginning and bathroom toward the end.) Once the deal was made, the story flowed better. A few scenes fell a little flat. The dialogue and interaction between the characters didn’t connect me to the them. Such as the first sex scene, this was very good but there wasn’t much on the characters feelings. It was pretty much telling what the characters were doing. Don’t get me wrong the sex was creative and wild but lacked that elegance that makes a really unforgettable romantic tryst. That second sex scene was hot as the flames of hell but still no real emotion in it. It was more telling what they were doing rather than how it felt. The plot itself was fantastic and I think with more work that this would be such an amazing novella. I was very stuck between a three and four star rating. It would have fallen right in between because the plot really was a creative idea. As you probably noticed, I went with four. However, it was very close simply because of the issues mentioned above. It also has me wondering if this is Ms Krieger’s first publication. She has that newbie feel but with a flare of a pro. Such as the ending which was perfect. I’d recommend this book to those who are science fiction erotica readers. Ms. Krieger has a lot of potential for a spectacular novel and I will keep her on my author list. She is one I am definitely going to keep an eye on.
