Archers Football, 1

Kaiden Demay has messed up for the last time. He’s an NFL player, and for the past year, he’s fallen into a hole of self-destruction. Tired of his drunken antics, the owner of the team invokes the morality clause in his contract to release him as a free agent.

His last hope is a new team forming in St. Louis. He’ll do anything to make sure he keeps playing the game he loves, even getting a fake girlfriend to sway public opinion.

Romilly is instantly smitten with the big, muscular man. Thrilled when he asks her for a date. Little by little, she falls for him, thinking he feels the same way. Then she discovers that they were nothing more than a lie.

Or were they?

Excerpt:

She glanced upward, loving how the sun played peek-a-boo through the tree branches. The scent of wildflowers hung heavy in the air. She wasn’t looking where she was going and ran into a jogger, bouncing off a hard male body. His momentum and sheer muscular size knocked her completely off balance. Then Toby must have thought she wanted to play and darted between her legs, tying the leash around them. She teetered and then pitched forward, falling onto the man’s chest. Knocking him off balance, they fell together in a tangle of arms, legs, and energetic dog. Toby jumped on her back, adding insult to injury.

Her lips were pressed against a sculptured pec, which might have been really gross if she hadn’t been distracted by his smooth, perfect, hard, tattooed … wait, she lost her train of thought. Muscles. Yes, that was the word she was looking for.

“I’m so sorry,” she gasped. “It was, um...”

The second their gazes met, everything came to a screeching halt. The edges of her vision went a little out of focus, and all coherent thoughts fled her mind. What the hell? She’d seen beautiful men before, but this man was a different breed altogether. Rugged, with short, dark cropped hair and scruff on his jaw. Hazel eyes that stared into her own with a deep, penetrating gaze before it dropped to her mouth.

Something sparked between them, and she was surprised the whole electrical grid didn’t short-circuit. Then he grabbed her hips and pushed her back so he could get to his feet. He held his hand down to her.

She looked up muscular legs, past the mouthwatering V line that disappeared into his low-riding basketball shorts, over a taut stomach and washboard abs.

Was she drooling? She felt like she was drooling.

Personal Foul
Written by Jwilliams on 19th Nov 2024

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Kaiden Demay was released from his NFL contract because he was spiraling down a destructive path. A new NFL team is forming in St. Louis that he hopes will keep him in the game he loves. Kaiden decides to clean up his image and date a wholesome young woman and as luck would have it Romilly walks into his life. Romilly is lovely and kind-hearted. She is walking her neighbor's dog when she meets Kaiden. They start as friends but end up falling for each other as they spend time together. What will Romilly do when she finds out why Kaiden first showed interest in her? Will Kaiden be able to prove to Romilly just how much she means to him?

When he meets Romulus he believes he found away. Romilly fell hard and fast for Kaiden and thought he felt the same but when she finds out it was all for publicity she doesn’t know what to do.This is a definite must read.

Engaging fake-to-real romance
Written by LBing on 19th Nov 2024

This was a great foul to fab romance as Kaiden finds healing in his time with Romilly. What started off as a fake romance between them led to feelings building, and their chemistry burning hot ;P However, when she finds out he was only after an image improvement, she's crushed. Thankfully, this insta-love romance led to an HEA. I loved the depth of emotions, in this one, and was thrilled they managed to deal with their drama pretty quickly. So fun and I'm looking forward to the next book :D

Kaiden and Romilly
Written by Lillah C on 19th Nov 2024

Personal Foul is book 1 of the Archers Football series by Beth D. Carter. This was a new to me author and I was not sure what to expect, however I was surprised by the depth of the emotion in this book. It does deal with some sensitive issues but ends with more of a HFN rather than the HEA. All in all I can honestly say that it’s worth reading.

Good read!
Written by Jes7s7 on 19th Nov 2024

Enjoyable story of Romilly and Kaiden. It started off foul what Kaiden was trying to do to Romilly and it definitely was no excuse but as time went on it was so pleasant to see the tables turn on Kaiden and watch him fall for the sweet girl next door. Of course story could have been longer but all the good parts were there to keep you happy with the short read. Definitely recommend for a quick read!

Romilly and Kaiden
Written by SeahawkGirl on 19th Nov 2024

Kaiden is a star tight end whose career goes off the rails after a string of self-destructive choices lead his team to enforce a morality clause, cutting him loose. With one last shot to redeem himself, he tries out for a new franchise in St. Louis and vows to clean up his act—including finding a steady girlfriend to help repair his image. Romilly, a talented artist with a heart of gold who often walks her neighbor's dog literally collides with Kaiden. He thinks she’ll be the perfect partner for his redemption plan—except he doesn’t anticipate actually falling for her. As they grow from friends to something more, Kaiden keeps his original intentions a secret, adding a layer of tension to their budding romance. But there’s more beneath Kaiden's struggles; he’s reeling from the trauma of discovering his father’s affair—with none other than his best friend. This family turmoil adds a layer to his character and hints at why he’s so lost. Romilly, however, brings him a sense of calm and joy he’s never experienced. She’s unlike anyone he’s dated before, making their chemistry feel authentic and refreshing. When Romilly discovers Kaiden initially used her to restore his reputation, she’s heartbroken. This is the first contemporary romance I’ve read by Beth D. Carter, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like her shifter novels, it’s filled with lots of emotions and complex character dynamics, making for a memorable read.
