Team Paladin, 1

While recovering, Marine special unit Team Paladin wins a $565-million dollar lottery. The first thing they do is hire a personal assistant to deal with the insanity that much money will bring.

Desperate for a job, Lucky Duvall responds to an advertisement for a personal assistant. He is hoping that seven is his lucky number as this will be his seventh job interview for the week. The god of a man who interviews him makes him long for more than just a job with the team.

Lion shifter Shane Thomas has more on his hands than he can handle. He has a team of battle scarred interspecies shifters who have decided to move away from the civilized world. Then he meets Lucky, his mate. Will he be able to convince Lucky to take a chance on him and the team and their crazy dream of moving to Montana?

Be Warned: m/m sex

Excerpt:

Orange.

The man’s hair was orange. Not red. Not ginger. Not strawberry blond. Orange. Neon, day glow, plug-it-in-at-night-to-keep-it-glowing international orange.

Ten years in the Marines, first as enlisted and then an officer, had not prepared Shane for the civilian world. Especially when it came to finding a personal assistant to help him deal with the insanity that was sure to come. The fact that they only had three people respond to the advertisement listed on several job websites as well as in the local newspaper made him wonder if the unemployment problem really was as big as the new reported. Or maybe he shouldn’t have let a bear shifter with PTSD write the ad.

The slight, orange-haired young man was the third and final interview for the day. The first was a young woman just out of some business school who had trembled and stammered during the entire interview, obviously scared out of her socks. The second, a woman in her thirties, seemed more interested in hearing stories of his adventures in the Middle East than she was about the job.

He doubted this one would get much beyond the “Hi, how are you?” stage. But he was under a deadline. Five members of the team were being discharged from the rehab center in two days. He had to hire an assistant and claim the lottery money before then, and find them somewhere to live while they finished preparations for the move to Montana.

“Mr. Westfield?” he asked as he stepped into the lobby.

“Yes, I’m Lucky Westfield.” The man with the orange hair stood and closed the distance.

When their hands touched, both men inhaled as electricity arced between them. Shane blinked, shocked at the charge that flowed from the little man up his arm and straight to his cock.

Lucky appeared to be feeling something as well. The human’s handshake was firm, solid, proving he was not afraid of Shane, who was more than a foot taller, nor did he turn the simple handshake into a test of strength, one he would surely lose.

It took a moment, but when Shane pulled his focus back from Lucky’s hair and looked at the rest of his face, he found himself falling into olive green eyes that sparkled at him. They met his and widened slightly before returning to normal, as if he could see something in his eyes, something that needed to remain a secret.

Shane swallowed as his gut tightened. His lion stretched and shifted to attention, apparently liking this little man who was so very wrong. Then the human’s scent reached him, cinnamon and apples, a favorite combination of his. His lion sniffed and gave a small rawr of interest.

Shane realized it had been a long time since he’d gotten laid. He hadn’t had sex since before he’d gone to Iraq on this last rotation.  Maybe it was time to call one of the dozen or more numbers tucked away in his dresser. Yes, sex with a man with normal colored hair was just what he and his lion needed.

"Lucky's Seven" is the beginning of a series with disabled vets and shape shifters. I liked it! It was a little slow in the beginning, but once it got moving it was good. The chemistry between Shane and Lucky was there and intense. I liked the story line of the luck of the Shifters finding their mates. I've always liked the finding your destined mate story line. I recommend "Lucky's Seven" for the really great story it is. Enjoy!!!

I have spent many times daydreaming about what I would do if I won the lottery. Oh, the dreams that can be hatched. I don't think money can buy happiness, but I do think it can relieve a lot of stress and allow you to fulfill your dreams to be happy. The fact that Team Paladin, a very secret Marine special unit made up of various shifter species, has just won an absurd amount of money, exactly when they needed it the most, gave me a very happy feeling. Shane and his team have all been injured and are getting ready to be released from their rehab hospital and their service to their country. Their plan, all seven of them, is to move to Montana, buy a ghost town, along with several hundred acres, and turn it into a hunting, fishing, camping resort with a luxury hotel. First, though, Shane needs to hire an assistant who would be willing to relocate to Montana. Lucky needs a break. He's tired of his brother and sister constantly telling him what a loser he is, and his snarky mouth has gotten him fired from a lot of jobs. He really needs this job, not to mention he thinks Shane is hotter than hot. Shane thinks Lucky is weird with his dyed, neon, glow-in-the-dark orange hair, but his lion likes the smell of him, and the other guys like him. There's also a little something different about Lucky, that Shane eventually learns is his empathic abilities. So, seven battle-fatigued and scarred veterans and one empath are heading to Montana. But not before they get some business out of the way. Like claiming their lottery winnings, and explaining that they are shifters, so they don't completely freak out their new assistant. *grins* Oh, and Shane claiming his mate. I really enjoyed this introduction to a new series. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't longer, because I thought there were things that should have played out over a little more time, instead of insta. But that is only my opinion. I adored Lucky and each of these seven warriors. I have a soft spot for Marines and shifters, so it was a win-win. This was fun and sexy, with some snark and attitude. I'm looking forward to the next book. NOTE: This book was provided by Evernight Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

I totally enjoyed this story while short it gave me what I needed to get an idea of what the author wanted from this series in the future… Shane is a badass soldier and lion shifter who has a team that are in need of a new life away from the military…and the aftermath of being at war… When they win the lottery they know that is there way out to a better future… Lucky is everything other than lucky… his parents died and left him with 2 very horrible siblings and nothing left to loose… I will be looking forward to reading more from this author and I give this book 3 diamonds…

This is an enjoyable romance. A military group of shifters have won the lottery and need an assistant to handle the details. Orange haired Lucky applies and gets the job....now he can start his own life away from his annoying siblings. Shane is shocked when his mate applies and that he has orange hair! Well written and captivating, this is a sweet romance with some sexy chemistry. Looking forward to reading more books in this series featuring the rest of the team.
