Night Owl Reviews
Sam Cheever twists things up,a little with this sexy short. This is the first story by this author where it isn’t 100 percent clear that the hero is determined to win over his woman and yet I loved Luca Brown and how he struggled with his place, his passion and his past. Mavis Miller might be young but she is mature beyond her years. Her past has shown her what she wants and what she definitely doesn’t. I enjoyed watching her reaction to his scar and the way it didn’t bother her at all. I also enjoyed how she simply sees it for what it is, but it doesn’t define who he is in her eyes. I like how even when he doesn’t want to act on the attraction he still gives her more attention and affection than she’s ever had before. I loved how he struggled, how he spent time reflecting on his past and the part his actions played on his present. The chemistry between these two is combustible and I loved how seamlessly heat and heart were interwoven in this story and I’m looking forward to seeing how this author can entertain me in new and fascinating ways. The Story: Luca Brown once was a spoiled rich golden boy who played by his own set of rules but now he’s scarred and reclusive but the death of his estranged best friend leaves him the guardianship of a young girl. But Mavis Miller is no child, at 18 she’s a woman, a woman he sees beyond the scar to the man beneath.
