Rainbow Book Reviews
Hollywood actors may be famous and possibly rich, but that doesn’t always make things easy for them. Chase and Aidan have to deal with the darker side of life in this story about an obsessed fan – someone who is obsessed with their characters from the cop series they appear in, not even themselves as who they are. And while the kidnapping is part of the story, the bigger focus is on what happens afterward, when they deal with Chase’s injuries, his recovery, and the fact that one of the kidnappers got away. Chase is the one who is kidnapped while Aidan is on a vacation with is sister, and he deals with the awful feeling of being trapped and helpless in some hotel room fairly well. What he finds more difficult to handle is the fact that one of the kidnappers gets violent to the point that Chase ends up in hospital – once he is found and rescued. Aidan is the one who has to deal with his guilt about “leaving Chase”, even for just a short time, as well as the physical injuries that mean Chase is unconscious for a long time. Luckily everyone in both families is very supportive, but it is still a tough situation. And once Chase wakes up, finding a balance between being protective and giving Chase the space he needs to recover is difficult for Aiden. If you like your romances with a trace of suspense, if two ordinary men in extraordinary circumstances interest you, and if you’re looking for a read that is as suspenseful as it is sweet, then you might like this short story.
