Dante Gallo is pissed off.

When he gets married, he doesn’t intend to be blackmailed into it. However, Phillip Lewis has some damaging evidence. To keep his secrets, Dante must marry the man's plain youngest daughter, Aria.

Being married to Dante is a nightmare. One that Aria intends to get away from. Even though she is terrified of this man, who is considered to be the most brutal in the Pesci family mafia, she finds the courage to confront him.

Once learning the truth, Aria is horrified. She doesn’t want anyone to be forced to marry her. All she has to do is figure out a way to get the evidence to set Dante free.

When Dante overhears a conversation about how Aria feels about him, about sex, about being married, he doesn’t like it. He is going to give them something to talk about. He will hold onto his wife, he will be proud to be married to her.

But Aria has to set Dante free. She doesn’t want him to be forced into a marriage he didn’t want. The only problem, she has fallen in love with him. Letting him go is proving to be the hardest thing she has ever done.

What will Dante do when he is given the means to be set free? Will he leave or has he fallen in love with his plain bride?

Excerpt:

“Dante,” she said, pressing a hand to her chest. “You startled me.”

“That was not my intention.”

Her heart was racing. She hoped she’d not spoken aloud about any part of her plan.

“I don’t imagine it was.” She was not going to freak out. Laughing, she couldn’t help but look toward the doorway right behind him and hope for a chance to escape. The last thing she wanted to do was make small talk.

They stood, opposite sides of the kitchen. She was still near the sink, Dante in the doorway. He wasn’t wearing a jacket anymore. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, and he looked angry.

Aria didn’t know what had set off his anger, and she wasn’t interested in learning either. Dante, other than to do his duty, hadn’t laid a finger on her, and she wanted to keep it that way. Other women were not quite so lucky. Black eyes, lots of makeup, and of course lies—that was what she was used to hearing from them.

The silence between them was starting to make her uncomfortable. She wanted it to be over.

“I was just getting a glass of water. I’m about to go to bed,” she said.

Move. Try not to draw his attention.

Not for a single second did she think she had the power to draw his attention, but she didn’t want to have to perform more of her duties.

Go.

Dante wasn’t saying anything, but he was staring at her. She had no choice but to attempt her escape.

She moved toward him, and was just about to glide past him when he suddenly reached out, grasping her arm, and before she knew what was happening, she was pressed up against the wall. Panic swelled up inside her. What had happened? Had she done something wrong?

She heard the cruelties of people at parties saying that he would probably beat her because she wasn’t anywhere in his league. Fear traveled down her spine, and it had no thought, no care, no consideration.

She stared at him, waiting, wondering.

“You don’t have to be afraid,” Dante said.

“I don’t?”

“No, you don’t. I just want to try something. Trust me.”

Aria didn’t trust him. His reputation far exceeded him, but there was nowhere else for her to go. She felt the panic, but then Dante surprised her. The only time they had kissed was on their wedding day straight after the priest had told them the I do’s. The kiss at the altar had been chaste. To any onlooker, they couldn’t have mistaken that neither person wanted to be there.

She’d been terrified. Since then, they had not kissed.

They hadn’t even had a honeymoon, or done anything together, other than their duty. She struggled to think of it as sex … it was duty. Sex was something different to her, intimate.

All thought fled her mind as Dante’s lips took possession of her own. She expected him to be somewhat cruel, unyielding, refusing to give up and just taking. This kiss was so many different things, and yet, all of them together.

Dante’s hands went to the wall on either side of her head. At first, it was only their lips touching, and Aria couldn’t deny that it felt nice.

Slowly, his body pressed against hers, they were flush together, and something changed within her. At first, she thought she was going to panic, but then suddenly, that all evaporated, and she felt the length of his body against hers. It was nice. Strange.

And all too soon, the kiss had come to an end.

Dante pulled away, and she stared up into his brown eyes. They had the same eye color, but her husband’s eyes were slightly darker, more intense, at least to her.

Blackmailed Marriage - Sam Crescent Dante Gallo is the son of a capo working for the Pesci family. He knew one day that he would be involved in an arranged marriage but he never thought he would have to be blackmailed into one. Dante was set to marry Aria Lewis, ten years his junior, her father Phillip Lewis was forcing him into the marriage he had no choice. Neither did Aria, whom Dante soon learns is absolutely nothing like her father. Their marriage of circumstance soon begins to mean so much more to both of them. Such a well written story, enjoyable characters and some delicious heat. I really enjoyed it and know you will too. Happy Reading. Please note that I was given an arc of this book for my honest review which is exactly what I have given. 5 out of 5 stars.

Excellent touching Romance
Written by vickymeowmeow on 8th Aug 2024

Loved the characters. Love the family Dynamics. Really enjoyed Dante's Journey from jerk to caring partner. Sex was very thorough and well described but didn't overwhelm the story it was actually a very intrical part of the story as well as the mafia overtones. The couple's Journey from arranged to caring thoroughly connected me to the characters and had me rooting for their success.

Captivating
Written by SS1234 on 8th Aug 2024

Blackmailed Marriage was a well written and captivating read. Dante is blackmailed and forced into marrying Aria and he thinks she is like his father so he ignores her and pretty much treats her miserably . Aria is nothing like her family and Dante overhears how miserable she is and feels guilty . Aria wants to help Dante and find the proof which her father is holding against him so she can get divorced and both of them can live their lives and are not in this forced relationship. Dante doesn't have any faith in her but as he starts spending more time with her he starts falling for her and doesn't want divorce. The story was just beautiful . Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down. Highly recommend this story .

Sam Crescent has done it again. Her books are so amazing. I don't think she could write a bad book. Dante was blackmailed into marrying Aria. He hated her but then started to see her in a different light. By the end he was in love with her. They got their HEA. I highly recommend this book to all dark mafia romance readers.

Changed man
Written by Redfaeryrose on 8th Aug 2024

Dang! I swooned after reading that last paragraph. I was not too fond of the MMC initially; he epitomized his role as a capo. Somewhere along the way, he changed for the better, and it was because of his wife, the FMC. The FMC might appear small and weak, but she's the exact opposite. I loved the story and the happy life our MCs are living now.

Amazing book!!

Blackmailed Marriage was exciting and page-turning!!! I loved this take on the overhead trope. Usually it’s the FMC who overhears, but Sam Crescent has created a book where the MMC is the one who overhears the FMC. I love this take so much I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end. The storyline was original, the grovel was perfect and the drama and spice was page-turning!!! The characters were complex and had a slow burn chemistry. The FMC was determined and witty. The MMC was broody and intense. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author. She has an amazing ability to tell stories that have me laughing crying and fist-pumping through her books.

Dante and Aria
Written by Jen9731 on 8th Aug 2024

Blackmailed Marriage is a short and steamy, enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract, age-gap, arranged marriage, forced-proximity, curvy BBW virgin gets her mafia man romance. Aria is a 25 year old smart and sweet, plain Jane, curvy daughter of an evil mafia man, Philip. Her family has pretty much treated her horribly her entire life, stating she's too fat and too plain. Dante is a 35 year old hunky, grumpy, mafia man set to be the next Capo. When Phillip approaches Dante's father, he has evidence to blackmail them and demands that Dante marry Aria. He reluctantly agrees but plans to make Aria's life hell. He will try for an heir but nothing more. Aria doesn't want to be married either and offers to try and get the blackmail proof so she can be then set free. Dante agrees. But when he overhears a conversation between her and her sister, something changes. He is intrigued by Aria and wants to get to know her better. I was not sure about this book at first. My heart just broke for Aria and her loveless marriage and even how cruel her own family was to her. Dante was so distant and cruel at first. But seeing them embrace their relationship and watching them accept each other and fall in love was everything. When Dante started to romance her and spend time with her, it was beautiful. They had great chemistry, and we got such a happy ending after the drama was resolved. I loved it so much!.

I loved reading Dante and Aria’s story. Dante is a strong man who is a force to be reckoned with. The last thing he wants is to be forced into marriage with a nobody that he’s never met. Aria is a quite, sweet women who has spent her whole life listening to people say how plain she is. When they come together the one thing neither of them expected was to find their other half in each other but they have a fight on their hands to stay together.

"You're my wife, Aria, and I think it's time I started treating you like it."
Written by Anij on 28th Jul 2024

Good mafia romance. With only about 100 pages I was pleasantly suprised that at no time did I ever feel rushed. And there's also zero insta-anything. I wasn't really impressed with Dante. He was just plain mean to sweet Aria for eight months! And while he eventually repents, I felt she should have made him work harder for it. Aria was great. She's the reason I gave this 3 1/2 star book four stars. Despite having truly dreadful parents she was all things kind and selfless. There's a bit of a plot but mostly this book focuses on their love story. And it comes without a ton of angst or tears. Another suprise.

Mafia lite romance
Written by Readstoforget on 28th Jul 2024

This one centres around an arranged marriage brought on by blackmail. Dante isn’t nice to Aria nor does he make their marriage enjoyable because he blames her for her father’s actions. After some time though he realises that she’s not to blame but to her it’s kind of too late as she wants to divorce but he does not. Good read.

Mafia Marriage with a twist
Written by laura.lovesreading on 28th Jul 2024

Dante was blackmailed into marrying Aria. He hates her father and projects this hatred on Aria and does everything he can to make her life miserable. She came as a virgin in the marriage and you get to know through flashbacks that he didn’t give her a nice experience for her first time and for six months after, all he does is doing his duty in trying to become her pregnant, he transmits his anger and hatred for her father to her and treats her cruelly. But his thoughts and prejudices slowly change and he isn’t so sure anymore if he really wants a way out of this marriage. He needed redemption for sure, but they grow as pair and I liked how Aria got portrayed. She is selfless and honest, but not in a cliché way. She was treated cruel by her family all her life for being to curvy and plain, but she didn’t harden her heart, she is open, warm and soft. The book isn’t very steamy, you get your open door scenes, but it wasn’t the focus. The story is written in dual third person POV. The main focus lays on them as a married pair and not on him being part mafia or his role in it. The tropes are blackmailed, arranged marriage, slow burn, redemption arc, pregnancy, virgin heroine.

Dante and Aria
Written by Michelle E on 28th Jul 2024

Enemies to lovers. Dante was blackmailed into marrying Aria. He hates her father and takes his feelings out on her. Aria was treated poorly by her family, and despite that, she is a good person with a kind heart. Neither of them wanted the marriage, especially to Dante, who has a brutal reputation. Aria makes a deal with Dante-they will work together to solve a problem, and then they can get a divorce. As they navigate this arrangement, something unexpected happens. Dante, who once despised Aria, finds himself falling for her. His feelings take him by surprise, and they will surely surprise and engage you too. I love the redemption and grovel tropes. Overall, it is a great short story about a couple who have the odds stacked against them from the beginning.

Ohhh, this one was good. Dante is blackmailed into marrying Aria by her dad. Seems he has something on Dante. Aria has no desire to marry him but ends up going along with it because she can't stand her dad. Neither of them think feelings will change towards each other but as they learn about each other, they do. Aria is still wanting to help Dante get out from the blackmail her father has on him but will it be enough to make Dante finally give in and tell Aria his real feelings towards her? And will Aria reveal her true feelings? I loved the buildup of this story and couldn't put it down until I finished it. Great story!

Dante and Aria
Written by CarKar on 28th Jul 2024

Different emotions for me reading about how emotionally abused Aria was by her family. Aria was amazingly strong, and I loved how she found her backbone. Her motivations were always sincere, especially when it came to Dante. I have to hand it to Dante for taking a step back and realizing that Aria was not her family, especially her father. I love that he wanted to make their marriage work ... shocking given his background to have that tenderness reserved for Aria. I loved ARia and Dante ... their relationship was like the saying: "If you love something set it free ..."

Wonderful slow burn romance
Written by LBing on 28th Jul 2024

This was a wonderful mafia romance that started off in a dark place. Aria's father blackmailed Dante into marrying her. She was treated cruelly by her family and Dante continues with this as he projects his anger at her father onto her... I love how Aria was a warm and giving gal, despite the hardships in her life. I respected her plan to help Dante so that they could divorce and she could finally be free. He has no faith in her skills at finding the blackmail proof but he soon enough realizes that she's a legit beautiful person. And that he doesn't want a divorce ;) What follows is a great slow burn romance that builds and strengthens their marriage into something special and lasting. I love how the author always has my back, taking something dark and making it into something beautiful :D

Dante doesn't bend to anyone, but when some scandalous events occur he's blackmailed into marrying Aria. Aria didn't want marriage to a man with Dantes brutal reputation, and married life was far from happy, but learning of their situation and getting free are two different things, Aria offering to get him the evidence in exchange for a divorce was a no brainer, but will Dante take the chance to leave if given, when feelings change between them? Well written, steamy slow burning, he falls first, desires, forced marriage, blackmail and more!

Aria and Dante were pure perfection! Dante was a tough broody A-hole, but who could blame him? He was blackmailed into a marriage. Aria was such a sweet kind hearted person. Hang on and you might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) ?. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way! Aria is so sweet makes you want to give her a huge hug, she has been mistreated by her family all her life for being the plain, a little curvy, a little to shy, and she has always know her father wasn’t a good man but when he made her marry one of the most dangerous man producing a heir with him keeping the baby before she is free. Dante sexy as all get out hard exterior, hard interior for the most part next in line to take over after his father blackmailed to marry the daughter of the man blackmailing him, he hates her just as much as he hates her father, but he will do his duty, and along the way make her pay for the sins of her father. Their marriage starts off horrible but he doesn’t abuse her, pretty much leaves her alone which she is happy for until he comes up with an idea to pretend to enjoy their marriage giving the naysayers stuff to talk about making her father even angrier but the goal all along was to find the evidence he was blackmailing him with to give him his freedom but after getting to know his wife he doesn’t want to walk away, will she stay married to him after they have the evidence, will he be honest with her about his feelings, and can they find some form of happiness after a horrible start?

Beautiful story!
Written by Jes7s7 on 28th Jul 2024

This was such a beautiful enemies to love story and the only disappointment was how short the story was. Dante and Aria were well written characters who started off with pain and manipulation. Things turned around once Dante realized the part he played in his forced marriage and how he could make a difference. The book turned out great even with the ups and downs from Aria's father. This is a highly recommended short read.
