This story is presented smoothly with a steady pace all the way through. It has mild BDSM scenes and the romance between the characters are sweet. There is little drama in the story, making me hungry to read more from the series. Ciel was truly a man of integrity. He was a loving and kind male who wanted a committed relationship with his mate Jensen the vampire. Although Jensen was much older than young Ciel, he was still emotionally more immature than Ciel and he needed to a year to realize what he almost lost. You see, Jensen wanted everything his way… this vampire wanted an open relationship whereas Ciel wanted a monogamous one. I certainly understand where Ciel came from when he walked away, leaving Jensen to carry on the way he had been. What I couldn’t fully understand is the dynamics between Ciel and Jensen as well as the dynamics between Jensen and his family. Ciel was ‘adopted’ by Jensens’ family (You need to read this part in the story so I don’t give you any spoilers) but how this human grew up among the midst of vampires without getting bitten left me bemused but I get it after all most vampire stories show brutality towards humans. I guess I wanted to know what kind of childhood Ciel had. The writer told us that he was loved and adored but I couldn’t ‘see’ that. I felt that the conflict among the family members was rushed a little and I would have loved to read more about it because this part played a crucial element in the story. Despite the dialogue between characters, and the events in the story, I still couldn’t connect emotionally with Ciel or Jensen… I struggled to be ‘present’ in the story as I read. This is an experience that I look for, every time I start reading a story. I read to escape… dream… and enter the world I call the Fiction Realm. Saying that ‘Bind Me’ was a pleasant story making it an ideal read for anyone while sitting at a café or at the beach or in bed. It is not filled with angst so it is rather easy to read. I look forward to reading more stories from this author.
