The Alpha Shifter Collection, 5

What would you do if the boy who bullied you for a long time suddenly showed an interest?

Marshall Briggs is an alpha wolf—and a bully. He’s tormented Scarlett for as long as he can remember. When he turns eighteen all of his senses are awakened. It’s his final year of high school, and he can’t wait for it to be over.

Then he scents his mate, and Marshall is shocked. The girl he’s bullied is in fact his mate. Everything has changed. Now he must show to Scarlett he’s a changed man, one who will do everything to keep her close.

Marshall Briggs is suddenly being kind to her, and Scarlett is more confused than happy. How can she trust him? Is it another joke he’s playing on her?

Marshall definitely has a fight on his hands to get from bully to boyfriend.

Excerpt:

Marshall stopped outside of his locker room. Everyone was charging toward the lunchroom. Hunger filled the air, but something caught Marshall’s attention. All of his senses went on high alert at the smell of fresh roses, the earth, and home.

Mate!

His wolf came roaring to the surface, demanding he find her.

“Whoa, Marshall, what the fuck, man?” Jack put a hand on his shoulder.

Gritting his teeth, Marshall struggled against the need coursing through him. His body was burning up. The need to claim was stronger than ever before. This couldn’t be happening, and yet it was.

“She’s here,” Marshall said.

“Who?”

Closing his eyes, Marshall blew out a breath. The scent of his mate was fading. Where was she? Who was she?

“Mate.”

“Holy fuck, for real?”

“Yes.”

“Shit, do you want me to call your father?”

Marshall shook his head. He didn’t want his father here. It wouldn’t help. His wolf would calm the moment he found the woman meant for him, the woman who’d calm the beast inside him.

“No. I’ve got to find her.”

“Shit, I hope it’s not a teacher. That would be totally messed up.”

Laughing, Marshall slammed his locker closed. He’d find his mate and everything would be okay.

“Let’s go and find her.”

“You’re going to sniff her out like a dog?”

“I’ve got to do this on my own. Get us some food.”

“Are you sure?”

Marshall didn’t want to share this moment with anyone else. This was all him, and the thought of having Jack there didn’t ease him at all.

“Yeah.”

“I can’t wait to see who it is.”

He waited for his friend to leave before he picked up the floral scent once again.

Go. Find her. Claim her.

Marshall came to a stop at the doors leading outside. The moment he went outside he was at risk of losing her.

She’s out there. Go now!

His wolf pounced, and Marshall walked outside.

The scent increased as he made his way around the building. When he saw a blond guy around his age sitting in front of the tree, Marshall froze. There was no fucking way his mate was male.

Marshall would rather die than fuck another man.

Then he heard her voice. It was soft, delicate, and belonged to his true mate. He closed his eyes as he basked in the sound and scent of his mate. She was leaning against the tree. His cock thickened, ready to mate. Stepping closer, Marshall felt his whole world collide, explode, implode, shatter, and fall around him.

Underneath the tree sat his mate, Scarlett Fields. The one girl he’d spent a great deal of time bullying. Was this the reason he was obsessed with her? His body had known before him that she was destined to be his mate? She was oblivious to his presence, smiling at the mystery guy. He didn’t like it. His wolf growled, clawed, and spat wanting to kill the man who was making their mate smile.

Scarlett is my mate.

My Review Of Alpha Bully (The Alpha Shifter Collection #5) by Sam Crescent
Written by Laura Lu on 3rd Nov 2018

Marshall Briggs and his friends spent most of their school career bullying the chubby girl Scarlett Fields. His dad had told him he needed to be nice to people because he never when it could come back to bite him in the ass if he didn't. The first day of school after becoming a wolf, he discovers how right his father was and his mate all in the same day. Now his mission is to make one Scarlett Fields forgive his stupidity and trust him so he can make her his. First, Sam Crescent this is so totally unfair. I have this huge list of books that I need to read before I can enjoy reading something I am not asked to read and what do you go and do? HHMMM, well? Fine I will tell you... YOU had to go and write a book that drew my attention so much that not only did I just have to buy it but I had to drop everything else and read it on the spot. LOL Thankfully this book was worth it. I didn't think I cared for the beginning much so I skipped to the end and read the last half of the book only to go back to the beginning and read the entire thing. Guess that tells you that I really liked about Alpha Bully now to what I didn't like. There was a missing word or two that threw off the sentences and words with missing letters. Then there is issue of the 'he' snuggling into the 'him' who happens to be Marshall which brings the question of who is the 'he' snuggling Marshall? Over all I would really like to give Alpha Bully a five star rating because I will probably read it again but the edits are enough to reduce the rating to four stars. Sutle yet engaging
Written by Ash on 22nd Mar 2018

Alpha Bully was a new adventure for me all on its own I am not used to reading a NA book from Sam Crescent, but honestly I am glad she gave it a go because I fell absolutely head over heels for this book. There is emotion without so much sex and I loved it!

Turned Down, but Fabulous!
Written by Ash-Luna on 1st Feb 2018

I am a HUGE fan of Sam Crescent, and when she said this was going to be a little different than her normal I had no idea what to expect. I was not disappointed. This was so far from the normal Sam book. Less naughty naughty, but the chemistry between the characters was still there, and I loved it. I hope she continues to throw some turned down book. I enjoyed this. Fingers crossed Jack gets his own book!

Good Read
Written by Linda Reddick on 1st Feb 2018

I really enjoyed this story. The characters were well developed and the story was one of the best I've read from this author. I'll be trying to find the other stories in the series to read. Hopefully, Jack will get his own story so he'll know what these two went through. Having to 're-evaluate someone who was mean to you and All of a sudden in love with you. The heroine took a leap of faith and was rewarded.

Great alpha werewolf read!
Written by Averbockel on 1st Feb 2018

Love this book! Great alpha hero and a sky but spunky Heroine. Hero Participants with bullying this young girl, not realizing she is his mate. Once he comes back from break a nd goes through his change he finds out the girl he bullied is his mate and wants nothing to do with him. He really had to pay it on thick to get her to trust him. The story had the perfect amount of alpha and romance, a must read and a great young adult read!

Excellent Read
Written by Dallas on 1st Feb 2018

This book is a little sweeter than most of the Alpha series. The main characters are still in high school, which is not typical. The book was excellent. The alpha has to work extremely hard to gain the heroine's trust after years of bullying her. Eventually, they end up with their HEA. This book shows how talented Sam is because she is able to really develop the story without all the steamy sex scenes. I have to say I enjoy her writing in any capacity! Definitely pick it up!

Not your typical Sam Crescent romance!
Written by The Sterling Fig Reviews on 1st Feb 2018

Sam is known for hot erotic novels and I loved that this was a change from that direction. For starters, the MMC and MFC were in high school throughout the story so there weren't any sexual encounters between the two until both characters were over 18 and married. The MMC, Marshall was a bully to the MFC and came to regret that decision once he found out she was his chosen mate. He then had to overcome all the damage he had done. Was it realistic that she accepted him in such a short amount of time -- well we are talking about a romance here, but the heart wants, what the heart wants. I liked the fact that she was able to incorporate a fair amount of the high school drama into the story as well as the struggles surrounding the two MCs (his struggle to undo the damage he had done and her self-esteem struggles surrounding her weight and being picked on). I also liked the fact that it, hopefully set up future stories, for Marshall's best friend, and (maybe?) Beta, Jack. I'd love to see him get his cumuppence as he was a high school bully as well. A sweet novella -- not too short, not too long, just write and another example of why Sam Crescent is an author that should be on your immediate must-buy list.

Quite different from the other Sam Crescent's books I have read so far.
Written by Emily on 20th Jan 2018

Alpha in progress, Marshall Briggs had been warned by his dad one two many times to reign in his teenage behavior, it could nip him in the butt when he meets his mate. After his first shift, Marshall is back in school for his senior year and getting the feel for his life as a full shifter. However, he never expected to find his mate and the girl who he is meant to spend his life treasuring, is none other than Scarlett who he has spent years bullying along with the whole school. I liked this one a lot. Scarlett doesn't trust Marshall when he starts being nice to her, she is waiting to see where she becomes the punchline. Marshall is ashamed at his behavior, yes he was young but he intentionally hurt his mate. Quite different from the other Sam Crescent's books I have read so far.

I loved it!
Written by Josey on 20th Jan 2018

Ms. Crescent this is the type of YA romance novels I love to read from you. The hero was such a douch but boy does he redeem himself. I just loved reading all the different ways he had to work hard to prove himself to the heroine. I also loved how you added in that cute neighbor to make the competition a little harder for hero to win her over. I always manage to forgive a bad boy hero when the heroines make them work for it and heroes are genuinely sorry. I just loved the way you described their high school life and after school interactions. All that high school drama wad highly entertaining for to read! I also loved how safe the book was. Hero was heroine's one and only, so no added OW or OM drama that would make me feel betrayed. It all just ran smoothly to give us that great ending. I won't lie but this book reminded me of "Sixteen Candles" in a way. The way you describe hero mooning over the heroine, especially that classroom scene when the teacher sat them together! !!!! I loved it!!! I also loved how hero took it slow and build up heroine's confidence after he realized what a jerk he had been (he was a hormonal terror that could not understand what he felt until his wolf kicked in). I loved those sweet bedroom scenes. Even though there is one sex scene at the very end I didn't need it. Matter fact I skimmed past it. My 5 stars were for the beautiful way you wrote this YA romance. Redeeming a high school bully is not easy, especially when still in high school, but you did it!!!

The TBR Pile
Written by Cecile on 11th Feb 2015

Marshall Briggs was a popular student in his high school. He and his best friend Jack easily were the most sought out guys in their grade (and likely the school). Scarlett Fields was one of the only girls that went out of her way to not get their attention. It didn’t matter because Marshall and Jack had bullied her much of their lives. When Marshall goes through his change into a werewolf and discovers Scarlett is his mate he will regret ever being unkind to her or allowing others to be. This was quite honestly one of my favorite stories I’ve read in a long time. The characters while not always likeable were real and honestly written. Marshall was a typically popular high school guy and Scarlett was very much the shy bullied teenager. Their relationship while blooming due to Marshall’s biological call to mate was believable and did not happen over night. This story was a young adult/new adult book due to the ages but I enjoyed their transition. The heat level was at a simmer to a sizzle as Marshall was good about waiting until Scarlett was ready. I gave five stars for this book for the great world and character build, the enjoyable plotline, and the fabulous HEA. I look forward to further releases from Sam Crescent!

Totally enjoyed!!!,
Written by Connie on 26th Jan 2015

Totally enjoyed this book. No one likes a bully least of all me. Thank the Lord this one redeemed himself. Shifter storyline that was entertaining, had drama and was steamy. Characters were younger than the normal but it totally worked. Loved it when Marshall discovered the one person he bullied was his mate. Loved that he had to work to earn Scarlett's trust and love. Would recommend.

Book 5 of the Alpha Shifter Series. What a lovely story. Really enjoyed this book. Love can overcome any obstacle. Definetly a must read. Would've loved for there to have been a 5 yr or 10 yr later part as with the other books to this series, I really missed that not being part of the story. But so loved this book.

Great short story!
Written by Angie on 22nd Jan 2015

Scarlett was a sweet girl that was bullied all through school. Marshall bullied Scarlett until their senior year in high school. Marshall scents Scarlett and realizes she is his mate. Marshall works really hard to gain Scarlett's trust. Scarlett is having dreams about a wolf and the forest and keeps hearing the word mate. This was not your typical Sam Crescent book, but she did not disappoint! I loved seeing Marshall realize how bad he had been and try to redeem himself. This was a great short story!

Sweet change of pace
Written by amazon customer on 22nd Jan 2015

This author clearly is known for her erotic literature so if you're hoping for that in this book you will be disappointed. For one thing, they are still in HS. It reminded me of a a cross between 2 other books. The next generation alpha series by Christin Lovell or a story I think by Harmony Raines. It was part of a series. It set the stage for a story about Jack, a character I begrudgingly found myself liking. My only real complaint was the speed with which she let her guard down. Granted he author only had a short amount of space to tell her story. But having been the subject of HS and life bullying, you don't trust that quick. In some ways it made bullying seem like a non-issue.

Romantic
Written by L. Sims "Linda" on 22nd Jan 2015

In a departure from her usual storyline the author has written a Y/A tale. I was a little apprehensive before reading it, not only because of that. But the hero Marshall has badly bullied the heroine Scarlett. They're both highschool students, Scarlett is plumper than some of the other girls at school, and is consistently bullied by the popular crowd of which Marshall is the accepted leader. Marshall and his friend Jack are wolf shifters whereas everyone one else at school is human. When Marshall turns eighteen he has his first transformation into a wolf. It's then he discovers that Scarlett is his destined mate. But she hates him. My initial worries about whether the author could redeem the hero turned out to be needless as I think she did a great job. This was a romantic read that was tender and sweet. I really liked the characters, especially Scarlett who had a backbone and wasn't going to easily forgive Marshall. I liked Marshall's friend Jack as well it would be nice to have his story.

I never read stories where the main characters are still in school, but I'm glad that I read this one. Author Sam Crescent is an amazing storyteller! I had so much fun reading this book. It has everything that you could want in a live story. The only thing that u didn't like is that the ending felt rushed to me. I would have liked more. It is still a must read though!!!!!

Oh wow, oh wow!!!! I totally loved this book. After bullying her for years, Marshall had a lot to make up for and I was glad to see she didn't just fall into his arms. She made him work for her. Another thing I liked was with them being still in high school, the sex wasn't overwhelming! Now I would love to see Jack get a story somehow!
