Night Owl Reviews
The Skulls, #11 Alex is the eleventh book in The Skulls series by Sam Crescent. This book is best read as part of the series to fully appreciate all the characters in the book and the story line. Alex has lived a rough life, filled with anger, hurt, loss, and betrayal. He was supposed to protect a young woman who ended up dead. Instead of finding the killer, he covers up who killed her and kept silent about it. Alex has been a part of the Skulls for years, however The Skulls have no idea how much he has protected them. Now his past of after him, and the Skulls want nothing to do with him. All the while, Alex has finally found the love of his life. Now what will happen next? The beginning of the story starts right where the last story left off, and leaves you wanting to know more. By the end of the first chapter, I was excited to finish the book. The author was about to continue the vivid and distinct world she created in the past books. This world is very realistic with a sense of location, as well as time. Her words created a very distinct picture. The pace of the story was steady and fast all the way through. The main characters and the secondary characters were fascinating and realistic. Both Alex and Sunshine had faults that they each had to deal with making them realistic. The point of view alternated between Alex and Sunshine, giving the reader a glimpse inside both characters. The changing point of view was done in a way that the reader did not get lost or repeat story lines. The main conflict carried over from past books in the series. The main conflict not only kept the story moving but fit the characters motivations as the dealt with it. The level of conflict was perfect, any more conflict and it would have detracted from the main conflict. The dialogue between the characters was honest and unique. The characters voice matched not only the setting but fit their overall personality. The ending was a bit predictable but the author takes the reader on a wonderful ride. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series
