Kitty’s heart beat a strange staccato against her breastbone. What had possessed her to slip back into her school girl outfit, she would never know. Yet here she was, dressed like some third-rate hooker, about to embark on a one night stand. Taking a deep, fortifying breath, she knocked on the door of Alex’s hotel room. All was quiet on the other side, and she was just about to turn round when the door opened; and Kitty’s greeting stuck in her throat.

Dressed in nothing but low riding jeans, Alex smiled at her, and she hastily wrenched her eyes upwards from the incredible abs on display. Covered with a light dusting of chest hair that trailed down to his jeans, they would give any model a run for his money, and Kitty swallowed. Dressed he was bad enough, but like this he was breathtaking, and judging by that lazy smile he knew it, too.

“Room service around here just keeps on getting better.” Alex’s husky voice raised goose bumps on her exposed skin. “Coming in?”

He hooked one finger under her chin and tugged the end of her shirt tails with the other hand, forcing her to take a step toward him.

“I-I shouldn’t be here, really. I’m not sure why I’m even here.” Kitty mumbled the words, and heat spread into her cheeks.

Alex merely smiled and pulled her closer still. “Liar, we both know why you’re here. Question is, my naughty little girl, will you step through the door and expand your curriculum?” Alex’s heated whispers against her ear sent her heart into overdrive, and she leant into his warmth.  His clean, male scent wrapped itself round her senses, and her stomach flip-flopped in delicious anticipation. It had been so long since any man had held her. That had to be the reason for her immediate reaction to this man.

“Well, Sir, that all depends what you have in mind, because I have been very naughty.”

Alex went very still at her breathy statement, and Kitty bit her lip. Has she read this wrong? Was he not up for a little role-play? She hesitantly raised her eyes to his face to read his expression, and the heat in his gaze scorched her skin.

“So, I’ve heard. Come here, and take your punishment.” His deep voice had dropped several octaves, and he grabbed her by the wrist and spun her into the room. The door clicked shut, the sound loud in the quiet room, and before she could even blink, he had her pinned against the wall. One jeans clad thigh spread her legs wide, and he raised her hands high above her head, whilst his other hand blazed a trail of heat along her exposed tummy. His mouth claimed hers in a bruising kiss, and she opened to his quiet demand automatically. His tongue found hers in an erotic dance that left her jelly-legged, breathless, and grateful for his big body holding her up against the wall.

He groaned his approval when she kissed him back, and he deepened the kiss, his fingers slowly slipping south, until they dipped under the elastic of her thong.

Firemen are hot, but Alex is sizzling!

This story really knows how to grab your from the start. It's almost too hot to hold! Kitty does something that is defiantly out of her comfort zone. What happens afterwards wasn't what she planned, but she's a strong individual and she'll tackle everything head on. And that is something you have to admire her for. Alex is back home, but there's someone on his mind that's been there for years. And a chance encounter brings her back to him. There is something slightly different about her, but she's still sexy as ever. But just as their relationship gets started, there is a major hiccup that causes things to turn 180 degrees. As they are at odds, something happens that changes things again. But does this turn of event mean a way to bring these two back together and make a go of it? Only time, along with Alex's determination, will tell. I really enjoyed this story. It kept me riveted all night until the end. Kitty quickly became someone I would love to be friends with. Alex is a tall drink of water, a walk sexy dream for sure. If my house is on fire, I want him to carry me out and into his bed! I loved how these two interact with each other. Sure they are phenomenal in the bedroom, but outside the bedroom as well. They both want the same things, they just need to work through some issues to make this an exceptional relationship. Doris is a brilliant storyteller and this has to be one of my favorites! An Italian, hunky, fireman that can cook? Yes please!

Hot, sweet and an emotional read, and as complex as any true Italian family. Too Hot To Handle is not the typical girl meets boy/ girl hates boy/ girl falls for boy scenario. The engaging storyline takes readers through the course of four years and involves less-than-perfect characters – I could not put the book down. This couple is the true example of love through adversity. But to get to that point, I had to overlook the clichéd title and the hokey cover. Be warned: what is inside is better than the package. This is clearly a case of not judging a book by its cover! The emotional elements of this book compelled me to flip the pages faster. Alex is a deliciously sexy firefighter who meets Kitty in a bar far from home for a one-night stand. Fast-forward years later when Alex stumbles upon Kitty on a work assignment and the two are intertwined more than he can first understand. Kitty has a pragmatic side so opposite her naughty girl image from when they met years before; and Alex is drawn to both. Their relationship twists and turns with some fires of their own along the way. The complex family environment adds to the story. Detailed characterization gives readers realistic descriptions with no expectation that we will like everyone we meet in the series. While some of the secondary characters are endearing, the author is confident enough to allow readers to meet characters sure to rub us the wrong way. This only added to the story. Too Hot To Handle is a sizzling tale sure to please.

It was a dark and story night….. Not really. They met in a bar, had instant heat, and acted on it. It’s called a one-night stand. But this night had a surprise or two in store. For Kitty, it resulted in a pregnancy that she decided to nurture. She called the father, who provided his phone number, but never heard back. That was pretty clear so she moved on with her life. Alex can’t forget the one night with Kitty. He was engaged but this woman he met in a bar was the woman he wanted. His obligations be dammed. Unfortunately he could never find her and she never called. Imagine his surprise when she’s right in front of him four years later? Alex’s life is a car wreck. And most of the chaos is of his own making. As a clueless male he doesn’t see that he’s being manipulated by his mamma (whom I despised) and his now ex-fiancée who so wants to be his current fiancée. When he reconnects with Kitty and discovers the results of their one night together he’s concurrently furious and thrilled. As the miscommunications and misunderstandings pile up we have his mother and ex-fiancée hovering in the background. I simultaneously liked and hated this story. Alex’s mom was too much to believe but fortunately she redeemed herself in the end. The ex was also a piece of work and while I despised her she really added momentum and conflict to the story. The tragedy that befalls Alex was a common story element but disappointing. All I can say is if this is how Italian families really interact, you can count me out. A good read that had sex and steam but also infuriated and annoyed. And that’s what kept me reading to the end.

Kitty met Alex during a bachelorette party in Amsterdam. It was a bet that brought them together in the first place, and sheer desire that brought her back to his hotel room later that night. The chemistry they share is over the top, but as reality sets in for Kitty, she realizes that this is against all normalcy for her. The next morning she disappears from Alex's arms without even a goodbye. Almost four years go by, before Kitty and Alex are reunited . Alex has yearned for his mysterious beauty for all this time, so imagine his surprise when they meet again in the school where Kitty teaches, and Alex becomes the fire inspector. She's nothing like he remembers, more voluptuous and even more gorgeous. Of course sparks still fly between the pair, and they can't seem to stay away from each other. As the couple seemingly grows closer, a secret Kitty has kept these past years is revealed and begins tearing them apart. Kitty is a mother of a three year old boy with down syndrome. Not long after they reunite, Alex discovers that he is the boys father. Alex is beyond outraged to know Kitty has been keeping him from knowing his son. Kitty knows she's made mistakes but she thought Alex wanted nothing to do with them. She had called him when she first learned the news of her pregnancy but he never returned her messages. Now Alex, along with his meddling mother, is determined to be part of their sons life, even threatening to take full custody of him. Thus an emotional battle begins between the pair leading to the discovery and challenges of true love, along with learning to overcome unexpected obstacles as well. Kitty brought a lot of magic into this story. Her lovingness' and patience towards her son was admirable. She doesn't let anything tear her down. She's determined and strong willed, creating a perfect heroine in a perfect story. Alex is a sexy Italian with the firefighter status that makes most women, including myself, swoon over and over again. He is also a very genuine person, wanting nothing more then to love and be loved. He becomes the instant perfect father to his son, never once thinking twice about his disability. Too Hot to Handle was so much more then a sensual love story. It was charming, funny, and even heartbreaking. I stayed up very late into the night to finish it because the drama kept getting deeper, and more emotional. I found the storyline of Too Hot to Handle to be fantastic, going into great depths to discover the main characters. I felt personally involved in their lives when all was said and done. I highly recommend Too Hot to Handle, especially to those who like a fairly quick read with a depth of a six hundred page book wrapped up into one of this size. Too Hot to Handle was truly a great read.

Too Hot to Handle is an endearing tale of second chances, a sexy story of two characters whose magnetism is undeniable. There were so many emotions running rampant in this book that I wasn’t surprised to find myself almost in tears when the hero got hurt (no spoilers from me!), but laughing in joy when love was finally realized and they lived happily ever after. Ms. O’Connor’s writing is fun and fast paced with plenty of character development. Too Hot to Handle is a very entertaining read.

I’ve read Doris O’Connor before and really enjoyed her. She has an amazing writing style with tons and tons of details that just pull you inside the book but honestly she really out did herself in this book. The plot while not original held a lot of suspense and I had to really control myself to keep from skipping ahead to see how things unraveled. Oh does this story start off with a bang, it’s intensely hot. My husband now loves this author too. However what I loved the most were the characters!
