Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
I read quite a lot of the M/M genre, and I’m always kind of surprised when a guy is kissed by another guy and realizes not only does it feel good but he likes it and goes from being hetero to bi in the blink of an eye. I mean, I’m sure it happens and let’s face it, that immediate attraction happens between males and females all the time. I guess I’m going to have to survey my gay male friends, because this really has me curious. In Revved by Chacelyn Pierce, Creed is surprised when his best friend of three years, Bronx, kisses him after too much alcohol. He’s even more surprised by how it made him feel and his reaction to it. This is a short story about two men who have a life changing moment and the fall out afterwards. There is some confusion, some hurt feelings, some groveling, and then some pretty damn good make up sex. Set around the male dominated world of drag racing, it’s not hard to imagine some of the fears these guys are dealing with. I liked these characters, they are both pretty much alpha males; one trying to be true to himself after hiding part of his life for many years and the other trying to sort out his feelings and trying to figure out how to apologize and move forward. While the book leaves us with a pretty good happy for now, I’d really like to know more. I’m hoping we’ll see more of Creed and Bronx in the next book in this series and learn how they are progressing. I enjoyed Revved; the characters are very likeable and their intimate scenes will no doubt get your heart racing!
