The Romance Review
They are drawn together by destiny. Danger surrounds them. There will be tough choices for them all. In the end, they can only count on their love for one another to keep them safe. Jason and Donovan are brothers who have waited eagerly for their mate. They are both wolf shifters and Donovan is the beta to the Alpha and devotes much of his time and energy to protecting the pack from danger. Jason has a little more freedom from pack responsibilities and is quite the charmer. When Jason meets their mate and notifies Donovan, it brings them great joy. Danger enters the picture very quickly. They have to make choices between saving their new mate and their responsibilities to the pack. April has always felt different and feel compelled to leave her home and go to Canada. She loves to help others. When she meets Jason, she also feels a strong connection. Learning about his brother surprises her but doesn't daunt her from pursuing this new future. There are plenty of other surprises in store for her. Great danger surrounds her but the love of her mates keeps her focused. This is the second book in the series. I did not the read the first book yet. I did feel a little lost at times in the beginning so I think it would be best to read the books in order. From what I understand, this book gives a different perspective on the events from the first book and introduced many of the characters so they do really tie in with one another. Empowered women is something you definitely find in the story. The female characters are not content to wait at home while the men they love are at risk. They are quick to get involved if it can save another life. They make some hard choices and accept the consequences. I really enjoyed the fact that in the end the women and men work together to take on the challenges they face. The men respect their abilities even if they have to fight their own strong desire to protect them from danger. Each of the characters is well developed but sometimes that is not the case in menage books. I really liked the alternate point of views the authors use to tell the story. You get to really understand what April, Jason and Donovan are feeling as they share their inner thoughts with the reader and with each other. It is an intimate connection you don't always find and makes the story more powerful. I was laughing out loud during one of the sexual encounters that embarrassed one of the members of the triad who was at a meeting with the pack while the other two were having some fun in the bedroom. This second book in the Beyond the Veil series delivers a great mix of romance and action. I encourage you to read Chasing Faete before starting this book as they are tied together and this book presents another perspective on the characters and actions from the first book. The menage relationship between the three characters is very well written and enhanced by the multiple point of views the authors use to deliver the story. It is a fast-paced story with hot scenes between the mates and some humor too. They really bond as they work together to take on dangerous enemies. It leaves you eager to read the third book in the series which will hopefully answer some of the interesting questions that develop during this book. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/viewbooksreview.php?bookid=22925#sthash.dn8VnscN.dpuf
